A big thankyou for this vid. i have a 2005 uk spec fazer . I brought it after a smash on a bandit 1200. Due to ill healf not done alot of miles on it yet. i was going to get rid and get another bandit becuse of the starting problems when cold and red hot, just spining over and nothing first try. I'd tried every thing exup, ais, tps, carb snc etc. Got recomended this vid by youtube. brought one straght away of ebay and fitted 2day. Only took about 5 min to fit. started 1 try at cold and the same red hot. I cant get over the diffence it has made starting. it feels a bit more pokie at lower revs(but not realy had chance to have a good blast) im not that fussed about mpg (my bandit got about 100miles to the tank on a good run.) cheers for making vid and the advise. I think im going to keep the bike now.

Useful video Jed, thanks mate. Just put one of these in my 2002 FZ1 and the first thing I noticed was how quickly it fired right up. The second thing was the smoother running / less vibey grips, and the third was the added torque. I would have been happy enough with the first two but hey, more grunt is always nice! Thanks again.

Never tried out this mod on a stock motor, but it sure doesn't work for a tuned motor. Turned my bike into a jerkomatic below 3,000rpm. 4 degree advance rotor on my 2003 FZS1000, ruined my bikes low speed smoothness, made it almost un-rideable in traffic, refitted the OEM ignition rotor, all's good again. My bike's tuned some what with a modified air-box lid, pipercross race filter, ported carb rubbers matched to inlets, Ivans MB (full Monty) carb kit, race can, binned the whole "Pair" system & capped off the air inlet stubs above the headers, new NGK plugs ... she absolutely rips your arms outta the sockets under hard acceleration, far more aggressive than a stock motor. Gained approx 15-20bhp over stock, much improved low speed running too, it'll pull from nothing to max rpm, never misses a beat. Fitted a manual cam chain tensioner to future proof the motor, OEM tensioners are known to back off under hard riding. Also upgraded the rear shock from an R6 destined for the track, so bagged a new shock for £120 (UK pounds), new linear .95 K-tech fork springs, bike's transformed & now no wallowing & tracks well in a turn, actually goes where it's pointed now. I'm super happy with the results for not much outlay in cash, all the work done by myself.

With tuning rotor 4degree is faster with grip ? I want a opinion

Does it only go in one way? I've heard people say you have to mark it then turn it 180° etc make it sound much more complicated than this

It bolts right in, you cant adjust it once it's on the advance mechanism and make sure the letter is facing out or toward you. You might be able to put it in backwards? but I would ensure you have it in correctly. If it's in backward it's fair to say the bike will definitely not run right or at all. Best,

I just done mine, it spun back a little bit removing the bolt. When I went to put cover back on the hole for retaining rod was slightly out so moved it back a little is this ok ? Thanks for video I’m yet to test it with this on only done it yesterday

I own a 2003 model. Would you recommend the advancer? How does your bike feel compared to the standard. Did you have issues since you installed it??
@Jedz1235 жыл бұрын
I put about 70K miles on the last bike with the advancer. I personally notice low end grunt and a couple more MPGs in cruising conditions. Also the bike likes to start much easier in colder conditions. Best,

70 kmiles with the advancer? Seems it does not harm the engine at least. Thanks!

Nope it helped in my sub 40' starts we have here in Vermont 5 months out of the year. Your definitely not going to hurt anything by installing one! Best of luck!
