Actually, the smiling could be a devious smile meaning he succeeded in his goal of destroying the wand, even if he died. And I don't think he would be able to completely regenerate himself, since he was right in front of the wand when it exploded, meaning he was most likely completely obliterated. But, you never know, since there is another season coming.

and you also never know what a villainous smile means well that and there's this line from villain wiki about him near the end "however, he is seen smiling as his "death" unfolds, hinting that he expected the wand to explode and that he may possibly be alive, or that his plan has yet to truly come to fruition."

Happy Tree Friends works for both. The series is KZbin, but it's also official. The only reason I use Fliqpy for both is because Fliqpy has two different defeats. Zombros is mainly the one who cleared that up.
