Galactic Cruise will definitely be available for demo! We've got 8 sessions in the First Exposure Playtest Hall and will be set up up a few times at the Indie Game Alliance Booth throughout the con as well. Got to play Cosmoctopus at LevelUp! (You were missed!!!) Definitely suggest trying to get a three-player game going; 4p runs a little long, but regardless, it was a lot of fun. Definitely added to our to-buy list.

I'm excited to hear what you think of Weirdwood Manor if you get to try it at Gencon! I backed it at the deluxe level because I thought it looked awesome. That is a higher complexity level than a lot of what I play, but I'm really looking forward to it!

I played Last Light at DTW with Roy. I do NOT like 4X games normally but a 4X playable in an hour was intriguing. It was a fantastic game. Really well designed. I immediately went and lat backed the game for the highest level. It's superb.

I’m going to Gen Con for the first time, and not really sure what to expect with all the crowds, but I’m sure it’ll be a fun time. Well I hadn’t heard about the Star Trek Discovery game being there, so that might be a pickup for me. Very interested in Queen by Daylight since a couple of my co-workers are really into Critical Role and got me hyped for this game. I backed Weirdwood Manor and 20 Strong through crowdfunding, so it’ll be fun to see them in person. I skipped on Tesseract on Kickstarter, but I’m interested to see it in person. I just really like board games, so all of your recommendations sound great, but I’ll only have enough space that my suitcase can carry (and under 50 lbs), so I might create a large wishlist by the end of the convention haha.

@lukewillardson Expect large crowds gathered at certain booths and long lines. Don’t hesitate on games, if you know you want something grab it when you can. If you try to come back later most likely they will be out of them. Some vendors will have small free promos for games you may have already, so be sure to ask if they don’t say anything. I would also suggest carrying your own larger but not huge bottle of water you can refill at the fountains so you don’t have to stand in the long lines outside to buy drinks. Follow your maps and ask for help if you need it.

I’m usually a slow buyer, as I’m indecisive and usually think it over, but it’ll be good to do some prep work beforehand so I can buy certain games if/when I see them first thing. This is really helpful and thanks for the promo card tip - I’ll be sure to ask for the games I already own.

@@lukewillardson Oh, and watch out for people wearing game bags, costumes, etc. and pulling carts. I almost forgot about this. There will be people walking around with huge game bags or wings from costumes and such walking around and for some reason a lot of them don’t pay attention to the people around them so you will have to watch to make sure you don’t get hit by them. I think I was hit by the same woman’s very large fairy wings at least 4 times last year. People were also pulling carts with games and kids so watch where you are walking because you may trip over them or they may be pulling a cart behind them as they cross your path. I heard a lot people complaining about the carts especially but I don’t think there has been any restrictions put on them for this year either so just watch out for them. I didn’t have as many issues with the carts myself as I did with the giant game bags and costumes, because sometimes it was nearly impossible not to get hit by some of them when people would just suddenly turn around as you were walking past or standing at a booth. We also saw a few others get hit by bags. So just be aware. They did try to restrict this last year but I didn’t really see it being enforced at all. Also, if you are prone to heat headaches or headaches from going between heat and cold, take something with you because the food trucks are outside in the very humid hot summer heat and the convention hall is cool dry air so going back and forth may trigger that or sinus issues if you are prone to that as well. If you sweat a lot, I would recommend carrying a travel size deodorant with you as well so you can reapply when needed because you can sweat it off in no time if you are prone to sweating. My husband and I both had to reapply a couple times last year since it was extremely hot and we were both sweating like it was our job! I just carried a reusable shopping bag for the games and threw in the small deodorants and a travel pack of baby wipes at the bottom. Once the games started going in, I just adjusted them towards the top.
