I am just learning to put it all together. I can determine almost all items on a menu (from hearing the words from Italian relatives my whole life - I am Irish) and, I can almost read 40% of an apartment/house for sale advertisement, ask for a meal, a bathroom, a hotel, a destination, etc. I feel my general conversation sucks. I am feeling happy I found this channel!!

In Hindi, one of d official languages of India, every, yes EVERY,noun has a gender too n d verb n pronouns depend on d gender of d word in question. In Sanskrit too, the gender concept z there, however there r three genders- masculine, feminine n neutral nd here, only d nouns nd pronouns r affected not d ending verb. It's interesting how similar d concepts of sum languages r! Cara e Caro, Amica e Amico, Figlia e Figlio, Gatto e Gatta.

Yes, it's interesting and fascinating! Sanscrit is after all the mother of many languages. Even some Latin words came from Sanscrit. Latin also has an additional neutral gender, but that was lost in Italian.

I'd start with the alphabet so that you get familiar with the sounds and then move to Italian words. It will make pronunciation and memorization much easier! Not exactly! 😅 Colors are considered adjectives (words that describe other words) so they don't have their own gender, they change to match the gender of the noun. E.g. : una casa rossa, un cappotto rosso. "Rosa" is an exception as it always stays the same.

If Table is masculine ( il tavolo) , then why did I hear this phrase a lot "Tutti a tavola al mangiare." Why is "Tavolo" sometimes "Tavola" Sono confuso su questo.

Un'ottima domanda! "Tavolo" is the general word for table, a table which can be used for any purpuse. E.g. "un tavolo da lavoro" - a work table, "il tavolo della cucina" = the kitchen table. In Italian, we change "tavolo" to "tavola" when the table is set up for meals. That's why we say "una tavola apparecchiata" = a set table.
