I have my first gender reveal photoshoot tomorrow for a lovely family who is having a baby girl. After some research I realized I could create my own DIY-style chalk ball at a far cheaper price than listed online. Did the same but used a big easter egg and painted it into a football...Crushed the chalk as much as possible then blended it.

Hello Marie. I got them at Hobby Lobby for a buck and change each. I ask my clients to wear sunglasses so when the plastic breaks no pieces or chalk fly into their eyes. Good Luck with your project!

Hobby Lobby sells both baseball and softball sizes. In this video the blue was a softball size but in the video for my client I used baseball size [ kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4Gog6ONjsSsj8U ] I'm sure other craft stores sell them as well but my local Michael's didn't carry the product until Christmas season because they are actually meant to be created as ornaments.

What type of glue did you use to seal it? & did you only put in one part or all around??

Superglue, small amount in one spot on both sides. It needs to be strong enough to hold if they don't hit it on the first try and it lands on the ground. Make enough for a few tries.

I've seen them crack open by missing the ball and the first try and landing on concrete. Grass is better, but it's meant to break open easily.

Yes I've seen people miss hitting it and it broke open when it hit the ground. Might be best to drop it on concrete then.

It didn't have a name. The sticker said CRAFTS HL 254439 207654 and they did not have a basketball size at my location.
