DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE STARS AT NIGHT ARE BIG AND BRIGHT
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE PRAIRIE SKY IS WIDE AND HIGH
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE COYOTES WAIL ALONG THE TRAIL
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE RABBITS RUSH AROUND THE BRUSH
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE SAGE IN BLOOM IS LIKE PERFUME
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
REMINDS ME OF THE ONE I LOVE
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE COWBOYS CRY "KI-YIP-PEE-YI"
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE DOGGIES BAWL AND BAWL AND BAWL
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE CHICKEN HAWKS ARE FULL OF SQUAWKS
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE OIL WELLS ARE FULL OF SMELLS
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THE CATUS PLANTS ARE TOUGH ON PANTS
DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
THAT'S WHY PERHPAPS THEY ALL WEAR CHAPPS

No lip syncing, no digital dubbing, this is the real thing! Smiley Burnett, could really sing Bass! & Gene Autry ? The very first gold record ever awarded, was given to Autry, for " That Siver haired daddy of mine."

Johnny Cash's version of that song was pretty damn good too. I'm sure not knocking Gene, though.

@@lawrencelewis2592 not even his brother! I think some of our younger generations are missing some of the best music ever sung & recorded! I recently talked to a guy in his mid 30's & he had no idea who Gene Autry, Roy Rogers,or Johnny Cash & Marty Robbins were! I just told him he had missed out some REAL music; I've listened to some of the garbage they call music today & I got to turn that " noise" off & put some of my real music on my c.d. player; I have Gene Autry,Roy Rogers,Marty Robbins,& some of the music I grew up with like Johnny Cash, Lefty Frizzell Ray Price,& even one of Willie Nelson! Those are real musicians!

One of my father's favourite tunes :) I remember watching old western on television every friday evening when I was a kid. I always thought it somewhat strange when Gene Autry or Tex Ritter started to sing but it always fascinated me and still does! Thank you for sharing this :D

During World War II, the BBC temporarily banned the song “Deep in the Heart of Texas” from their radio rotation during working hours over concerns that the song’s beat was so hard to resist clapping along to that it would slow down productivity whenever it came on the radio. source: "How-To Geek" newsletter

Isn't this the song that was originally banned in England for being too darn catchy?
