Smiley and My Dad were best Friends, I knew Him when I was little, He and His wife were invited to My Sister's wedding but couldn't attend because He was ill, Sadly He died a Month later in Feb. 1967, My Dad took many of His publicity Photo's, Mainly in Michigan, He will be missed. R I P

Great credit to you for telling about Smiley Burnette's radio show. But someone misled you about where Smiley and friends turned it out. Smiley's transcribed radio show was produced in Hollywood, CA, not in Springfield, MO. I have listened to all that are available to me, that would be 239 episodes. Every one of them begins with Joe Slattery saying "From Hollywood, it's the Smiley Burnette show!" At the end of each episode Joe announces, "The Smiley Burnette Show is produced and transcribed in Hollywood."

I remember when I was a kid I laugh when Smiley got in trouble, he would make me laugh when he would yell for Gene to help him.
