I was in high school back then playing football. Between morning and afternoon practice we all go home for our lunch break and watch the Gong Show. Then later back on the football field eventually we wind up doing Gene Gene the dancing machine. Nice memory. thanks

Kato first of all love your funky take on this song. Second Gene Gene the dancing machine was hilarious. The guests would all go crazy, Chuck would do the Gene Gene dance and everyone would be throwing things at Gene. Good simple times man, we need to bring them back. Hope all is well. Nice arrangement and playing! I think I was around 7 or 8 yrs old back then and if I recall correctly the friday night tv line-up in my area (I lived in Atlanta, Ga back then) was something like: The muppet show, The Gong show, $1.98 Beauty Contest with Rip Taylor LOL... good days!

That was great! Nice guitar work, good info about Gene and the show. Loved the Gong Show, Chuck and Gene Gene! Always fun to watch when I was a kid in the ‘70s. Love that Gene always looked like he was having fun, and smiled as he danced, even as the off-camera stagehands threw all kinds of stuff at him. I always felt bad for him when they threw stuff, but I knew it was part of the fun. Gene was a good sport about it. It was obvious that Chuck, the judges and the audience all loved him. And yes, he always had the same green jacket on. Maybe they shoulda called him GREEN Gene, the Dancing Machine! Loved your vid. I have a guitar that looks similar to yours- a Fender ‘Stratacoustic.’ It’s an acoustic/electric guitar, with a built-in tuner. Got it used years ago for around $100 or so. I just subscribed. 😎
