That was a great weekend. Gene had been playing in a hotel in Boise prior to this and this festival was his return to the scene. It was like he had ten years of jazz welled up in him and ready to explode. Glad to see this video of a great performance. Hoping there's video of 1980? Bill Berry Big Band with Plas Johnson, Marshall Royal, and the Candolis.

Wow. I've never seen this. Thanks for posting! I used to have the vinyl version. His piano intro doesn't was edited out on it. It goes straight from "..and I'm Gene Harris" into the riff of the song.

I love what you had to say about Gene in the description. Perfect. People do have that conception just because he can tear up a blues too. He could do anything though in my book. A one of a kind talent.

Ah, the great Jimmie Smith, with his "barrelfull of" drumsticks. -Great school, Julliard. Terrific bass work from John Heard.

More proof that Gene Harris is the greatest of all time, this is only the second time I’ve heard him play “stride” piano, Showing he can do it all!

He played stride piano amazingly well, but he wasn't playing any here.

Fantastic! Though the description says "no one plays like this" is maybe a bit off... Intro I was like "ART TATUM!" and the I was like "OSCAR PETERSON!" Amazing playing still...

Mr. Ac:is it possible to watch the incredible version of "sweet Lorraine"? I think it was in this same concert. I would love to watch it. Thank you

@AmeliaRay wow, how insensitive of the recording producer! That great piano intro makes the performance. Including it was not optional.
