I remember the ironwood heavy sticks and the hollow aluminum sticks with plastic ends. 1970

I had those hollow aluminum sticks too. They lasted about two rim shots before they dented and bent. They were like playing with bananas after an hour, ha!

Hi, Ed. When I had my on-line drumming accessories business I carried Velocity Sticks. They were an updated version of the aluminum drumsticks that you have. There seemed to be no interest in them at the time (about 11 years ago), so I kept one pair for myself and the others I offered as door prizes at the USARD annual convention. I also have an older version of a metal drumstick, which I think are aluminum and a pair of brass ones (super heavy!) I picked up from Bill Rotella at a show. I like your explanation of using the sticks to practice a looser grip by hearing the ringing. It makes sense. I honestly never thought of that! Take care and keep up the good work.

Brass! Wow, they must have been heavy. I would think brass drumsticks would make a nice award if they had an inscription. Like, "1st Place, Heaviest Hands, 1963." Lol!

@@TheDrumslinger Yeah, I wouldn't recommend them. They could cause some physical damage to the wrists and fingers. When I get back to the States I'll take a picture of them for you

Hi Ed, When I arrived back in the States, I couldn't the metal drumsticks. Turned out my brother had them. Having them back finally, I made a video demonstrating them. Excuse the stick clicking!: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioHanI2ha7B4q5I
