Gene Lebell on Bruce Lee

#Judo #GeneLebell, one of the Original Pioneers of Grappling in the US and one of the guys credited with introducing #BruceLee to Judo and #Wrestling, once infamously said that his student and former #UFC Women's BantamWeight Champ #RondaRousey would have Bruce for lunch...but when he talks seriously about his friendship with The Dragon, it's a bit heartbreaking.
It's no wonder Bruce continues to be an #Icon and #Legend today as the people he crossed paths with in life are all deeply affected from having known him.

Bruce Lee had 2 YEARS of Judo training at the Univ. in Seattle YEARS BEFORE he met GENE LEBELLE. Gene showed Bruce how to SLOW DOWN his movements for TV cameras, nothing more. Gene just ADMITTED that BRUCE was teaching HIM, not vice versa.

Bruce Lee had various teachers and Gene Lebell was one of them. Gene taught Bruce grappling , choking, and Judo, while Bruce shared his methods of striking. The choke move Bruce used on Norris onscreen was probably from Lebells teaching.

Gene can say anything he wants. But, it is what they say that matters. As Gene says they say Bruce Lee is the father of MMA and we all know what happened to Ronda Rousey which put Gene's opinion in perspective.

Bruce was well versed in Judo before he ever trained with Gene. Bruce's close friend and first student was Jesse Glover, an accomplished Judoka.

Edward William Barton-Wright in 1899 created bartitsu, a mixed martial art. He mixed judo, boxing, jiu jitsu, and more. Before either was born. It's cool to big up your hero, but pay respects to this true pioneer.

Marlon Hester well. I understand bruce lee fans. So many experts and leading martial artist back in the day confirm that Bruce Lee was pretty damn invincible. Even Jim Kelly said no one can touch him, and I have heard other interviews with well respected martial artists that were bad asses said they stood no chance against Bruce Lee. Speed kills. @@vedder10 bruce wasnt always as good as he was in the 70s before his death. Throughout his life he learned alot more than most people do about fighting these days. The way he got his speed strength and power is scientifically proven. There are people that can beat him but his abilities far surpass even mma fighters. Checkout overcoming isometrics, this is one of the things responsible for that power he showed with the one inch punch. Its all science. And yes those bruce lee fanboys who know nothing about the human body or fighting annoys me as well as the people who hate him.

@@mrd2392 Bruce was well aware of Judo and wrestling. His first student was 230 pound multi time Judo champion Jesse Glover. Jesse was almost 100 pounds bigger than Bruce, and he said Bruce mopped the floor with him when they first threw hands.
