Gene LeBell didn't work on the movie "Marked for Death". It was "Out for Justice". LeBell had previously worked on Seagal's "Hard to Kill". If it has happened prior to "Out for Justice" LeBell would have never been hired on to work on that movie. LeBell never worked on a Seagal movie after "Out for Justice". I heard the story the same year it happened from a friend who worked on that movie. LeBell choked out Seagal and that was Seagal's fault for acting like Joe Badass and taunting people. John Leguizamo, who worked with Seagal, has confirmed that Seagal acts like Mr. tough guy and had no problem hitting him.

Lots of it is a blur cuz this goes back 30 years ago!!! But he (Steven) tried offering SAG (union cards) to me and other people to get us to do stuff... @@benrocky1138 oh I recall 2nd unit work (doubling) in Bahamas? Or maybe another gig? Back then I was working every week (from extra work, to stand in and double gigs to stunt doubling). When I would work with Henrie Kenji (stunt legend), he’d give me the scoop on Seagal too. Steven was very well known for hitting the stunt guys but did not want to get hit back!! Because the spine (and muscles) prevents that, from the side or rear positions. Similarly... the body isnt going to be pooing itself, simply by Knockout, or Fainting. The only times when you hear about people Pooing themselves.. is if they either had a bad case of diarrhea... or if they were blackout drunk... where their poo was again.. in a diarrhea state, without them consciously able to hold it back. Being familiar with both Judo and Aikido, based on the narration, what happened fits the usual Ukemi interaction. Of course before a choke hold gets tighter you have to react. Lebell’s reaction was expected as a Judoka, he reacted to the “energy” given by Seagal. And Seagal having been given a Judo throw or Sangkyo, did the expected Aikido fall usually done in a an Ukemi. That’s why Seagal signaled to the bodyguards that “don’t intefere”.

This story I’m about to tell is true. This happened in 1994. I was a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. I served with a fellow Marine last named Marcheso who was heavy into the striking martial arts. I think he had earned his black belt in one of the Karate styles/disciplines. Now this was during the time when Steven Segal was at his prime! I thought back then that Segal was the bomb as far as martial arts goes. Well anyway, Marcheso told me, and I don’t remember the context, he was present at some martial arts demonstration. This must have been this “set” that is being discussed. I don’t remember why Marcheso was there, but as he was a martial arts black belt and follower of the martial arts, he was present and watching Steven Segal demonstrate certain techniques. What he told me is that he saw an “old man” choke Segal and put him to sleep! I told him “bullshit”! I did not believe it. I couldn’t believe that an “old man” could do that to Segal. Judo and BJJ were not popular back then. It was the striking arts and Segals very unique Aikido style from ABOVE THE LAW that was popular back then. Van Damme was also the bomb, but Segal was in his prime. I never believed Marcheso! I thought he had made it up, but it was such a unique story. I never knew until just a few years ago that this “old man” was none other than the great Gene Labelle!! Marcheso was telling the truth!! This story came up again many many years later. The internet finally brought this story to light. But when Marcheso told me this story back in 1994, there was no way to verify anything. All these years later, now this all comes out! Amazing!

That happened to me years ago while training, but he managed to put his arm at my chest, and get both of my legs so I corkscrewed, and fell with my arm slamming into my ribs. I was hurt for days after that. Either way it sucks for Seagal, but he well deserved it for pulling a chickenshit cheap shot like that. There's more detail in the book, but Seagal tagged Gene hard in the nuts, Gene dropped in pain, but toughed through it and dropped Seagal on his back.
