One of my favourite songs from childhood.I like the extra lines in this version of the song which help to make it clearer. Also the "other " being female in this original, helps separate the "snow bird" from the person, which becomes confused in other versions.

@@michaelalvarado5611 You have great taste in music. All of the groups and singers you mentioned were the ones I grew up listening to here in Nova Scotia. In fact, April Wine played at a few of my high school dances back in the day. Sadly, Myles Goodwyn, (lead singer and founding member of AW) passed away in December 2023. It was a sad day for our local music scene. Take care and stay out of the hot sun down there in Texas.

Quite a story. It makes me so sad that this man suffered from terrible depression. I suffer from that terrible disease also. Thankfully, I have a good psychiatrist Who monitors my medication. I am so thankful for that.

Most Canadians 'know him from Adam' and to diminish his song writing because of the Anne Murray recording is incorrect. He's a Canadian treasure.

Elvis did a nice cover. Anne Murray's was the original that I always loved. She said she didn't write it and is not exactly sure what's it's about. Family Guy the adult cartoon did an episode where she did her own voice. Funny, she has a good sense of humor.

Gene battled depression for many years, sadly committing suicide in January, 1995.
