Ace in his book and just about every QandA he mentions that he roomed with Gene from day 1. I don't know how many of us have shared bedrooms, or have had an actual roommate, not just a housemate, but a "room" mate. It can make you love/hate the person, and sometimes both at the same time. I understand why Ace respects Gene more than the other guys, beyond his personality.

I've always knew, just that gut feeling that Ace and Gene were actually friends in real life. Recently Ace on a radio interview said, 'I'm Gene's only friend'. Beyond the show biz front that Gene puts on.....you can see the closeness between those two. Great to see them together.

I fucking love listening to Ace, and seeing him and Gene getting along now. Maybe Gene has finally figured out that, while making money is great, people are the most important thing in life. People are who will be at his funeral, not money. And finally he loosens up a bit too, which I think that being around Ace helps out with. Now, as far as his "vault", from what I have heard and read, it is something that the hardcore fan would listen to once or twice, and that's about it, since many of the "songs" are just fragments, or really rough demos. But, I'm not spending my money on it, so for those that do, I hope that you enjoy!

It's interesting, in the last few years Gene has REALLY loosened up (I mean, he's even out there promoting medical (or otherwise) maryjane! The "straight arrow" Gene?) And he seems to now not be afraid to let his guard down and just be a regular guy. (Yeah, I know the story is in his private life he a much more humble and generous man and his "greedy, self-centered, god's gift to everthing" persona is his schtick--though I still think a genuine part of Gene's persona, just highly exaggerated for public consumption, as it were) So it's nice to see Gene and Ace just shooting the shit. No "Gene trying protect the bands image" or Gene having to be "on" all the time. Now all we need is Paul to remove the stick from his ass. I don't want a full blown KISS reunion. All 4 are way past their prime to put on that kind of show. But I wouldn't mind all 4 just getting together (sans makeup) and just jamming (plays some classics, some deeper stuff, maybe a few covers). Let it be loose, sloppy, off-key, out of tune, whatever. Basically similar to The Beatles rooftop performance, just one more gig before they all shuffle off this mortal coil.

It's fascinating to see growth in some people as they age, they seem more wise. Not trying to knock Gene but someone needed to at least brush his hair before the Q&A. Ace is still cool and funny. KISS has great old photos but Ace was really photogenic back then, every photo of him was quite attractive.

First off many many thanks for posting this video, as some have noted below it's rare to see Gene without his sunnies, that alone was a real bonus, we can actually 'see' Gene. Ace's hearing is so fucked up, but his laugh is the same as it was when KISS were at their creative and chart peak. Well seems like we ALL have an opinion as we ALL should so here's mine. And my view [s] only. Just seeing these two happy, relaxed, the chemistry still decades on when they're both on stage is arguably, given the dysfunction, substance abuse, ego's, and the ups n downs of what has been the 'KISS story' of this iconic band it's so great to see em both not only together promo ing Gene's 'vault'....but also Ae with Gene playing, cos to see both live it is as obvious as the nose on one's face they both still not only can bring it, they are it seems to me enjoying the shit out of being together on stage. In the end Gene is a PRAGMATIST. we ALL want to know, we ALL wish and hope Ace would return for one final time, not the so called final time Stanley stood there and lied to ALL of us in 1996 to 2002. All the optics, all the evidence to date, all the words from Gene to me, and it is just my opinion, is that Stanley is the ONLY stopper on a final send off for this transformative rock band who have created some of the biggest songs in rock history. Ace in a factual and evidencial basis has been the most successful as a solo artist, his solo release charted the best and again arguably was the most popular of the four members after Dynasty. I think, again my view, Stanley has never gotten over Ace being the most popular member [IMO], and Ace's success, but Gene is and always has been a brilliant artist, and a brilliantly successful businessman, and again he is a pragmatist. Gene is not fucking stupid, he 'knows' the fans want Ace back, PS's performance, his interview at the RRHOF was IMO a fucking performance of an ego maniac on steroids, and PS was one of the best front men in rock, and song writing genius but to be truly objective he is an arsehole whop has a sense of self importance. The other factor that's relevant is Stanley's voice is really gone, it is painful to see again my view, Ace can help significantly with the set list, watching a poseur singing Ace's classics is both surreal and criminal. Stanley has real trouble even getting through a few songs let alone an entire set list. Gene however, with ego but more common sense. Ace fucked up multiple times, physically he has paid for it, it is sad but he made the choices. Peter has retired and could not tour again, no way could PC hold down a full on tour and he is retired so it'd have to be Singer on drums. But all of this vault and Gene's band touring for mine is a pretty good lubing up the world and fans for one final send off.....I 'hope'. Ace was paid per show 50k and he and PC were cut out of the merchandise when they re united/toured in 1996, and it'd be the same again I'd reckon, but given the value difference 50k would be probably more like 80 to 100k per show minus merch. But shit these blokes need 'more' money like a hole in the head, and all of this buttering up by Gene IMO will I hope see some magic happen one more time. I don't know why people hate Gene, he is, has ALWAYS been dead straight up honest. So un PC. Ace is just a genius and his laugh is still hilarious, and he is a delight to watch live, the pics I took when he toured last year and again the year before are to me priceless, clear shots of his Budokan triple pick up Custom with the Ace header, lightening bolts and his name on the neck....and although Ace hits his picks up hard and digs in, his use of vibrato for mine is simply sublime, EVH maybe a genius and fast as finger wise, but Ace has always had his own very distinctive style....he has good nights and bad nights as he tours non stop but shit he really is a generationally influential guitarist, and a bloody good song writer. I was lucky enough all times I went live to be about 15 feet from the front of Ace and was rewarded, and elbowed like a fucking punching bag but punched bak and got some of the best pictures one could ever dream of....some people get luck. So here's hoping sanity prevails and we the fans will see the REAL KISS.....not some Kabuki show with a one time KISS roadie KISS cover band wanker who Gibson bizarrely gave him his own signature LP....the wanker parody who is Thayer...a complete fraud and a joke..and on Thayer my opinion is absolute, resolute. He is a fucking imposer hired gun average, VERY average guitarist. Didn't know Ace had never met Vinnie Vincent, again thanks so much for posting this gem.

The original lineup should rent a cabin (on lake Michican or in the Ozarks) facing the sunset, bring out the acoustics, hand drums and have and have a "wise man's jam" as the sun sets. Netflix it. Maybe a mini series during a one week stay, with a therapist and all leading up to the sunset jam. It would be an absolutely incredible documentary. "Kiss the Sunset." I'd be glad to help produce it.

If the original KISS got back together again, they don't need the makeup. Any 2 members have been playing together at different times, all the time since the '96 reunion. With all due respect, Paul & Gene don't need Tommy & Eric to stay edgy & relevant. I wouldn't want KISS to be a novelty act playing on the equivalent of Solid Gold and the John Davidson Show these days...but they've been dancing around the fire, playing together but separate.They need to suck it up and do like the Stones have been doing. Mick, Keith & Charlie are still doing it, with Ron Wood, and still making a killing. KISS needs to be the American Rolling Stones at this point. All the original members are still alive and can contribute something without being a sad shadow of their former selves...if they do it right.

Gene doesn't really care anymore; it's just his ego won't let him retire. Gene is loaded and has other interests and investments he is involved in.. He knows he's on his last leg.. I always thought he had the worst hair, but it looks worse than ever and he doesn't even care about his appearance. Sad.

It's the one thing we've never seen. Sure there was the unplugged show but we still haven't seen the original Kiss without makeup. I don't care to see the show anymore, I'd like to see the original band, without the production, just playing rock n roll. Unfortunately seems like Peter would never be asked back.

It might... MIGHT have to do with who has the rights to the film. It might be KISS on film, but if a production company did the filming they might have the rights to the product, and there could be conflict between both parties.

A Facebook friend posted that she saw KISS last night. It got me to remembering ....& looking for the date of the only time I ever saw them. Way back on Feb. 29, 1976 ( according to their old tour schedule )...at Blaisdale Memorial Center in Honolulu, HI. I was stationed over on Oahu as a 19 or 20 year old Marine. Dropped a hit of acid before the concert, and recall being kind of freaked out, when Gene began unfurling his tongue & coughing up ( what appeared to be buckets of ) blood. And Peter Criss rising along with his drum kit.....on some giant cube or something. An interesting novelty act at the time........but I had also just discovered Pink Floyd........so I quickly drifted in THAT direction instead. Live in Reno, NV nowadays, and know KISS played here a year or two ago. I recall enjoying Gene's 'reality' show ( .....something called 'The Simmons Family Jewels'....? ).....but that was probably a decade ago.
