Still my favourite country and Irish singer. God rest his soul. He is so under rated and in cork's c103 country and Irish Radio show I never hear his sings played which is a shame. Anyone I speak too about country music apart from my parents no one seems to have heard of Gene Stewart or what he did to help country music in Ireland. I have so many happy memories with my mom of us listening to his music together when I was a child. I even play his songs on many of the recorder instruments I have. I play them by air not with sheet music. He is a legend and should be talked of more and his songs on radio more. When I was in my late teens for months on end I remember sending in requests to our local radio station the cork's 103fm noe c103 each Sunday in their country and Irish show for a Gene Stewart song for my mom. The first week they had to apologise as they had none of his songs in studio.

Truly a country legend .pity Gene didn't do the .little bit country .like big tom and few of the other country singers .
