What a gracious and beautiful person and actor. All those years of cigarettes took a toll on her. Gene was suffering from the early stages of emphysema here.

She was a genuinely great actress. Every role of hers, no matter how outrageous, became believable and she was really good at subtleties. My favourite

Such a tragic tale and she could do nothing about the awful things that happened to her and her first baby! But she tried so hard to keep going inspite of everything. She pulled herself up each time only to fall back down. Oh if only I had her beauty! I wonder how my life would have been different. But her story illustrates that beauty does not always make your life easy nor happy. The unluckiest lucky girl in the world indeed!

Kate From Ca N/A Most of us have tragic tales.She had her lumps,and bumps too.Not unlucky.Wish she had not smoked,nor gained weight.Kind of disappointing to see her age.

fairybits GENE WAS STYLED, AND DRESSED AGE - APPROPRIATELY FOR A WOMAN OF 65 , AT THE TIME OF THIS 1985 INTERVIEW. ALSO, SHE HAD TO TAKE ANTIDEPRESSANTS AND MOOD STABILIZER MEDICATIONS FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE, [ SHE REVEALED IN AN INTERVIEW A FEW YEARS BEFORE THIS ONE], AND OFTEN THE SIDE EFFECTS CAN BE WEIGHT GAIN. BUT SO WHAT ? SHE IS NOT TRYING TO LOOK 25 YRS OLD THE WAY 65 YR OLD PEOPLE TRY TO LOOK NOWADAYS. GENE IS BEAUTIFUL, WITH GRACE, POISE AND PRESERVERANCE.. .

@Drallivehc I have to say I like "The Ghost And Mrs. Muir" better than both of them. But she's good in all of them.

I really enjoyed her cold blooded performance in Leave her to Heaven . Boy did her voice turn gravelly and baritone...years of drinking and smoking do this...

Forty years after I first saw Gene in Laura, the sight of her face still makes me gasp. Even more wonderful is the resilience and beauty of her spirit. Her autobiography reveals not one trace of vanity, only the desire to work hard and be a good person. Like Laura, she had authentic magnetism. Thanks for this rare treat.

Beautiful on the Inside and Beautiful on the Outside. She was always about giving to others and did not take care of herself.

i was half expecting to hear gene do this interview in french, she studied in europe for two years and spoke the language fluently. of course all those shock treatments ruined a lot of her memory. listening to her reveals a very intelligent person with a strong sense of honesty and realism. it makes her all the more impressive.

Imagine, they tried to make this woman look like a hillbilly (Tobacco Road)! 😂 Gene Tierney thinking she isn't beautiful enough to play the character?! Humble AND gorgeous? She had such a beautiful soul.

She was a class act. A very successful actress in spite of her downs, she didn't let anything keep her down. She kept going. STRONG WOMAN! And born with a name that had star written all over it she didn't have to change it. And in birth and childhood started off with beauty. R.I.P. Gene Tierney!
@4Topwood11 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Her physical beauty was astonishing--but so was that of several other actresses in Hollywood's heyday. She alone had a quality of innate goodness that shone out of her lovely eyes. It's her inner beauty that is so mesmerizing.

Could not agree more! She is so beautiful inside/outside. Completely captivating star - none better.

Ironically, she started smoking to deepen her voice early in her career as she thought her voice was too "girly". I thought she had a lovely voice in her early years though.

I'm sure this may offend people but I find it sucks when u see women like Ms Tierney that were so so beautiful grow old it's like you can't imagine her ever ageing. She no doubt was beautiful all the way to her death. I like this interview she seems so much wiser than when she was young I enjoy watching her look back.
