GENE as we sat in the hospital , talking to you and holding your hand, you were burdened with the loss of your dearest friend Eddie ... We watched the Everly Brothers arrive at the hospital to comfort you . ... As we departed with heavy hearts, you departed back to the States. You had lost weight ... Eventually when you returned to the UK we rekindled the 'bond' Our legacy is memories and an array of stunning photographs . GOD BLESS YOU GENE...RIP

I wish I had a nickel for every comment that I've read that said this one was so "Underrated" or that one was "Way ahead of his time". In the case of Gene Vincent, he was seriously underrated and pigeon holed too. I never heard any of this music ever. Gene was loaded with talent that never was heard by the public in the states, anyways. It's a real shame that he came and went with so little fanfare. This is just my own opinion.
@mariacanavan3305 Жыл бұрын
Gene Vincent Was. not underrated at all. He was a difficult messed up character & he had problems endearing himself to the paying public & the listening audience. There was nothing wrong with his singing or style of music. He just wasn't quite as popular or as well liked as his other Rock n Roll counter parts. He only had one Major hit with Be bop - a - lula. But when Gene Vincent passed away he left us with tons of great music as his legacy. R. I. P. Sweet Gene Vincent... 🙏
@sandsoftime1954 Жыл бұрын
@@mariacanavan3305 "wasn't quite as popular", but wasn't underrated, interesting concept you have. Believe he sent most of his time in Britan.
@garypointing5825 Жыл бұрын
He was know as king of the Ted's in England. He was loved here. He had several hits in the early 60s in the UK and Europe when he'd been forgotten in Europe. Remember elvis's mum was convinced he was singing be bop a lula, not gene. He probably produced the best rock and roll music ever by any artist between 1956 and 1960, but capitol for some reason couldn't promote him. Eddie Cochran was the same just a few hits...if either had a Tom parker...

This is an old post I know. But gotta say I love Mr. Craddock. Always have. There is a recording from the 70s...a beautiful ballad...and I can't remember the title or lyrics... just the melody. It brought me to tears every time I heard it. I lost that 45rpm record and have never found that song again. 😢 Oh, well... sorry for the OT rant.

We have to thank the arrival of You Tube A Gene Vincent fan from way back Never realised he sang such great ballads as are appearing on You Tube His range from My Favourite Dance in the Street to these Ballads is incredible But the strangest thing of All is he never had a No.1 Not even in Top Ten in UK Highest he ever achieved was No.15 Why ??? I dont know or care. He Was Unique As was Elvis ; Roy Orbison Long Live Rock n Roll / Rockabilly The First & Forever TeddyBoy

Incredible footage; he looks not only wrecked, but appears to me to be walking around in a time and a place he didn't belong, just pursuing, defiantly, the only life he knew. What a startling, disturbing example of the gargantuan changes that finding yourself about fifteen years older, and in another place, (another time, another place), can make to you.

sorry to full on gene fan's but this place you can put down your own feeling. I like gene, a proper rockabilly man singer, but I still think he was the reason Eddie died. watch the bi/phy on Sharon Shelly/ and Vince/ and Billy see what they say before you condemn me, [ note ] I toured with Billy an Gene an Eddie. The other thing is miss Sharon Shelly/ she said Eddie was her first and only love, and she will never love anybody like that ever again, but yet she married less then 12 month of Eddie dying I call that getting over some one very quick, me if my wife had died that quick it would take me years,
