I just found a used lp up here in Charlottesville, VA, called "No One Will Ever Know." I love it!! A friend of mine turned turned me on to his greatest hits, and I remembered hearing "Farewell Party" and "Pick The Wildwood Flower" on the radio when I was growing up in Houston. I'm 36 now. This reminds me of going out to the deer lease in the early 80's and listening to country music that was So Good- before it was hi-jacked by whatever it is that is on the radio now. GO GENE!

This entire show was once posted; we could not get over how he performed almost nonstop. He's still such a great singer. Somebody? Anybody? got the whole show? Surely am enjoying the ones I'm finding here from that night. (And his many others too. Thank you.)

Thanks Sue. My big brother was raised in Paris Texas and honestly drove a tractor in the cotton fields. He left home at 16 to find a better way of life. Our Mother taught us all to play guitar and the first song we ever learned to play was the Wildwood Flower. Mother cried and cried when Gary (Gene Watson) left home and longed for him to come back home if only to pick the Wildwood Flower for her. He is Gene Watson, the recording artist but he is Gary to all of us. This is the only song he ever recorded where he sings his First Name.

+P. Watson I so enjoy listening to Gene Watson sing, and Oct 4th, I will get to see him again live. We are making our way to this concert and sure hope to have the chance to talk with him and have a pic. So excited. I wish my Dad had taught me to play the guitar...do you play and sing?
@p.watson29 жыл бұрын
Yes mam I do play and sing. There were 9 of us in the family, including Mom and Dad. We all sing and play guitar. Gary "Gene" is the only one who chose to travel and live in a bus most of the time. The rest of us chose to stay home and sing in Church. We are all old Sothern singers. Un fortunately we have lost Mom,Dad, my oldest sister and two brothers to cancer but the last 4 of us still sing and play. I not only play guitar but keyboard also.
