I'm 72 yrs old and I was a neighborhood bar star for close to 40 of those years. I'm probably one of the biggest country fans there ever was. I officially want to say that Gene Watson is so far ahead of all the country singers I've ever heard. There is no other Number One artist.in the world of country. There's a bunch of number 2's but he's the very best.

Gene, imo, is one of those few singers who gets to you deeply and emotionally. I respect HIS deep respect for the lyrical intent of the writer that he works hard to translate FOR US! Wow - one of the greatest voices ever !! Gene has kept his music country and I am so proud of that. His ballads are my favorites but I do like his gospel music, too. I have never been able to choose my favorite of all of his songs because to me they're all number ones. I first heard this song by Ray Price - another fabulous artist - and Gene does it so well also.
