Thank you SO much for your help in finding the fastest way to navigate our ancestoral road maps. The iPhone Ancestry app I was using wasn’t showing all the information I had collected on my laptop. I deleted it and uploaded the Ancestry app and the AncestryDNA app. By adding the widget, I know today was my 1st uncle maternal side’s birthday, my nephew’s birthday and in 2 days my paternal grandfather’s birthday. This is going to make sharing information much easier. I had struggled showing my husband’s maternal uncle that he and I are closer cousins than I am with my husband. The uncle and I share a 8th great grandparent. The uncle’s first name is the family surname, so all of this is amazing! Thank you!!

Hi Connie, Thanks for the video. I have Android and wanted to add a couple of comments. Under settings, there is a home screen section. Under this is a lock home screen layout option. This makes it so buttons can't be moved on the screen and others can't be added. If this is ON, it needs to be turned to OFF in order to add the widgets. After adding, it can be turned back off. When on, you can add the widget as you mentioned by pressing a blank space but then I needed to search widgets to find the Ancestry widgets. As you demonstrated, each needs to be added separately. I also found that if I held down the Ancestry button (rather than going to a blank area), it would pop up a screen for widgets. As before, this can only be added if the home screen isn't locked. I didn't try any of the additional tips you mentioned.

Since I am a retired electronics and IT tech and I have always loved new tech; unfortunately, the Amazon Kindle store won't be helpful. The Kindle Ancestry app is not compatible with the Kindle Fire HD (purchased in 2013) or the Kindle Fire HD 10 (purchased in 2016); I have both in my house. The Ancestry app was first released in 2011. Ancestry DNA isn't listed in the Amazon Kindle store. FamilySearch version 3.6.6 is currently installed on my Kindle Fire HD 10 and is functioning properly. I installed all 3 on my Android phone and they appear to be working properly.

Thank you. Regarding the chromosome browser, don’t hold your breath. I don’t think they have any plans of creating a chromosome browser.

Goodness knows it would be too much to ask for Ancestry to give their paying customers what they've asked for. Faults aside, I do love the new match feature where we can assign paternal/maternal sides and set the relationship. That is a great feature. Have a blessed night. :)

Connie some of my direct ancestors are being shown as first cousins 27 times removed. I think some of them I initially unlinked when I thought I wasn’t directly descended and then to further research with other lines I found they were direct ancestors. But they never regenerated into direct ancestors, they are still showing up as cousins removed

I love this feature and have been using the widgets for a while now. I have noticed that it doesn’t show all birthdays. (The dates are formatted correctly). It appears that there is a cut off. Today is my relatives birthday. 17 Jan 1739. There is only one other person in my tree with this same day of birth. She is listed on the widget and he is not. Who is it that decides which of my relatives I get to see? Shouldn’t that be my decision. Based on that why take my tree back further if it’s not going to be referenced in the widget?

I had been using the widgets since I first saw this presentation. Things loaded and when I clicked on the hint it would open and show the hint. Lately I have not been able to open the hints. The events one works and will open the person's profile. Has something changed? I have deleted the widget and reinstalled but still not opening the hints. Any suggestions?

The only change that I’m aware of since that video was produced is the merge of the regular app and the DNA app.

Don't get upset by this suggestion. I think people would rather see larger screen shots than tours of your house. I watch from across the room on my exercise bike. A head and shoulders thumbnail in one corner would be better. It's not just your videos, it's any YT tutorial.

Hi Connie. I am having issues with the events widget. it disappears (technically still there if you long press on it the boarders show up), it is there but is solid white. or it says the right date at the top, but the 3 events stop changing. At the moment we are the 11/11/22 and I still have events for the 9th stuck on there. Just wondering if you know of others having this issue. Do you know of the best place in ancestry to raise this. I am having trouble with that as well. Thanks.

Only thing I hate bout ancestry app is I write my dates as July 16, 2021 not 16 July 2021 like they make u do.

Writing the date this way has been an industry standard for decades.
