This saved my milk after Milton. 6hrs of frustration and a new spark plug didn’t fix it, but your video diagnosed it perfectly. It was even the same rocker arm. Pried the lever back with a screwdriver, then repositioned the arm with bent-nose pliers. It’s running smooth again. Thank you for sharing.

Would that cause the motor to backfire with a popping sound when trying to crank

GIANT THANK YOU! Saved my bacon. Found same problem, same valve, on GP6500 Generator, with less than 200hrs.

I'm afraid I have the same problem, but I cannot get that cover off to check. Is there a trick to it? I took the bolts out, but it is so fused on there.

@@andigleeson9962 Mine just came right off. I had very few hours on the generator. Maybe yours has stuck a little over time. I would try taping around the edges of the cover with a rubber hammer while trying to pull the cover off.

@@mikedoerhoefer6666 Thanks so much! Mine only has 94 hours, but I got it used.

Exact same thing here! You saved me. To put the rod back in I made sure was off and pulled cord till rod would fit. Just a tiny prying but not much. Thanks

Same problem !!!! Brand new !!! Ran it continuously during and after storm in Texas, maybe 18hours. Then it just shut off checked oil and its jet black now and 1/4 tank of gas and no ignition.

I have same issue. 59 hours on unit and starts, but won't run continuously. Did you pull valve cover yet to see if it fixes your issue? I'm thinking of checking mine, but not sure if it voids warranty or not.

Thanks for this video! A lifesaver. Had the same issue and was about to take to a repair shop after trying everything. Was able to get the push rod back in by rotating the cylinder with pull rope and using a screw driver to slightly pry up the lifter. Started on first pull. Would also like to know how this happens.

Great! Glad you got it fixed. Thankfully hasn't happened again but I bought a smaller unit for camping from Costco so haven't used this much and of course the power stopped going out after I purchased this and added a transfer switch to the exterior of the house.

My father n law has one without co and went to start but nothing then I sprayed it then started but won't stay running even trying 3 times. I'm thinking the carbs plugged, the carbs doesn't look like others but will check more. It's only been test ran for around 5 minutes.

Nice, my Generac was driving my nuts, I am trying this in the morning.

Did you repair that pushrod yourself or take it in to dealer/shop?
@protechmachinery16 ай бұрын
I'm so sorry. Should have shown the process of actually fixing it in the video. I was so excited to find the problem I didn't think to include the actual fixing part. But it was fairly simple and straight forward to tell where it came from. Literally just pushed it back into place.

So mine is about 1 year old, only used once. Wouldn't start so I removed cover. Push rod in place. After replacing the cover, it started very next pull, go figure

We have the same issues! Nothing was helping.We will look at push rod.How could that happen?

If it's not doing anything and you have spark and fuel definitely check under that cover!!!

You did not show how you actually fixed it, where the rod is supposed to go.
@protechmachinery16 ай бұрын
Sorry about that. All the rods match and look the same. It goes where the indent is for the rod to slide back into place. But you're right I should have shown more detail of getting that rod back into place.

It is recommended that you run your generac at least once a month for a few minutes every month until you need it again

Tonight, I was trying to do a test run on my portable backup generator: microwave versus computer! Who will win? And apparently the microwave won bc it made a sound that felt like a fuse could’ve blown
