General Hong Hi Choi is the father and founder of Tae Kwon Do. But do you know who he called “The Model of Tae Kwon Do?”
Watch how “The Model of Tae Kwon Do” went onto to become known as the “The Living Legend” and why he is the ONLY living pioneering Master of Tae Kwon Do that has got BETTER with age. So much so, that at the age of 78 he now performs better than when he was younger.
General Hong Hi Choi used the pseudonym "The Model of Tae Kwon Do" to acknowledge the expertise of this exponent of his art. He recognised that this particular individual was able to perform the techniques of Tae Kwon Do to the exact specification, precision and accuracy of how he envisioned The Art of Tae Kwon Do should be performed.

I was gifted wirh the opportunity of being part or a reception at the airport for General Choi. ITF TKD made us strong, disciplined, fearless and confident growing up. It was tough, but I cherish the memories.

Very inspiring video. I wish I knew of GM Choi's outlook and training methods back in the day. I am a Tae Kwon Do Blackbelt, but due to all the extensive kicking I wore my hips out at a fairly early age. Young and not knowing better!! But thanks for sharing your life's journey.

When I first start training at Choi karate, (that's what it was called in the 80's) He taught Tae Kwon do, it wasn't good on the joints, I over extended knees, elbow and such. He removed the rigid movements, no more lock out or fully extended movement. This made it possible to practice at any age.

I’m a career martial artist in Taekwondo. I studied under GM In Mook Kim. I’m 66 years old. I’ve had both knees replaced, my left hip replaced, 2 lower back fusions, and my right foot rebuilt due to a round house board break that went terribly wrong. My body is broken. I’m in constant pain. I still train 3 to 4 days a week and teach classes at my school of 35 years 6 days a week. When I go home at night, I can barely stand the pain I’m in. My question is, how is CKD different from traditional Taekwondo? And, can its training really help to heal my body as your Grandmaster says it did for him? What’s so different. Thank you.
@CKDUK

Master Cavanaugh, thank you for your message. The injuries that you have described and sustained seem consistent with the nature of your Martial Art techniques and training. Please watch this video, it will give you an indication as to why: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJmqiYComKpljpo The body has the potential and intelligence to heal itself, however one must create the right conditions to facilitate the healing process. We are truly sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. Hippocrates, who was a Greek physician and is known as the father of medicine, said: If someone wishes for good health, one must first ask oneself if he is ready to do away with the reasons for his illness. Only then is it possible to help him. You can be helped and there is much that can be done, however you must first understand what Hippocrates is saying. If you do then please reach out and we will be more than happy to discuss things with you.

Hi Roger, I'm with you, 40 years ITF TKD and still only 3rd Dan. I can't even enumerate the permanent injuries and pain, and at 62, I still can't quit. It's the difference between being a martial artist and doing martial arts. It's a state of mind.

General Choi is like the CEO of a tech company who says, “we should have touch screens on all our devices.” Then all the engineers and computer nerds actually make that happen, after which the ceo proudly proclaims, “I invented the touch screen!” Of course, to make that truly accurate you’d also have to posit a rival tech company that created their own touch screen and got it accepted into the olympics. 😛
