Me and my brother have 7 of these models in our collection, it’s really cool to see them in excellent condition

@@redgrapeskins Oh yeah, they have snooze features alright. Usually the snooze feature is that little black rectangular button that sits above the clock.

It feels like I'm watching a representative of GE showing me all the new clocks and their features. Awesome collection!

Wow! What a collection! FWIW, I still have a 4670. I got it for Christmas 1974 from my parents. I used it until 1996 when mom tepkaced it with an original Bose Waveradio, which os still in use to this day. The 4670 still works, but the silver raised labels on the controls tended to wear-through, and the grooved sufaces on both horizontal and diagonal control panels collected dirt/dust and was hard to clean. The FM antenna in the power cord was a little fickle and prone to weak signal depending on orientation. This was my main source of tunes in my teenage BR for a few years until i got my hii-fi stereo rig. Yours, while a refurb, is mint. It brought back a lot of memories! I have to look for it in my basement now!

Thanks for taking the time. I love these old clock radios . Got a few myself, probably my favourite is my Murphy flip clock, but I really enjoy them all and old radios.

Great compilation! I still have the 4670 I bought new in 1978. It has been in continuous service. The ony service it's ever had has been to have the controls cleaned. It is rather startling to research what we paid for them back in the late 1970s. The lowest priced one, the 4635 was $34.95 in 1979 and the highest was the 4870 at $99.95 in 1980. That is around $166 and $395 respectively in 2024 money. If you ever find a good C4390 or C4690 snag it. Those were GE's first electronic digital clock radios. The C4390 came out in 1973 and MSRP was $105. In 1974 the C4690 replaced it and was about the same price. A whopping $730 or so in 2024. Those two clocks used individual early Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) tubes for each clock numeral. Age has not been kind to them as most have dimmed over the years.

You’re taking me back to my days behind the Appliances counter at Kmart 4214 in Des Plaines in the early 80s. Spent a lot of cash on GE radios back then. My first phone was a GE clock radio with phone built in. Couldn’t tell you the model number if my life depended on it, but I loved that thing.

Way back in the late 1970's to early 1980's I worked at a repair shop which did warranty service for GE AEPD (Audio Electronics Products Devision) items. Portable cassettes decks, portable radios, CB radios, clock radios, etc. I've repaired most of these and this video brings back many memories. Yet the only clock radio I have is a very basic 7-4625, but it still works. Always wanted the electronicly tuned 4880, but I do remember they were a pain to work on!

Hi Cutie, You're going to love this. There is a young guy on twitter who proudly owns a '70's clock radio, and today, he is trying to find the switch that allows him to change the time on it. I told him it is located on the back panel, or possibly is on the bottom. So, if this is a problem, could you maybe do a video for these neo retro young folk, on HOW TO OPERATE an old clock radio, set, and change the time, etc. etc. because, of course, none of them had their manuals with them anymore.

I have a 7-4670. I got it from eBay, it even came with the original owners manual, and it had an original purchase date of October 10,1977

That 4647 with the electronic snooze control and the weather band is really awesome. I believe that is an older one

Hello! Not sure if you know this but the date codes will tell you the exact day your pieces were made. For example the 4670 date code says 5646 which means it was made on the 5th day of the 46th week in 1976. So that would be Friday, November 12, 1976!

I am very much digging this video. In my hunt for the GE digital clock radio with TV Sound + Weather from my youth... will let you know if I can find it. :)

Wow! That would have been an awesome clock for me to have had back when we had analog TV; I would have listened to that thing nonstop as a young boy. I actually had a portable AM/FM radio with TV sound (infuriatingly, VHF only, meaning channels 14-69 were invisible to it) and NOAA weather radio (I forget the brand, but I doubt it was GE), but the internal rechargeable battery quit being able to hold a charge and when analog TV shut down in 2009 (none of the VHF stations in my area were low-power stations, otherwise I could have listened to the TV portion up until 2021 if the whole radio didn't stop working), the TV sound portion of it stopped working, leaving behind AM/FM and weather radio. Unfortunately, I don't have it anymore, but as I recall, it was my earliest venture into the world of NOAA/Environment Canada weather radio.

The 4660 is almost certainly one of GE's earliest electronic clocks. I have one, and I believe it dates to 1976.

4:28 In the realm of questionable additions, adding a room temperature meter to a clock radio is pretty high up there.
