Will always be thankful for biology lessons. We once learned about lymph notes and how it’s not normal for them to be swolen for longer than 2 weeks, and for some reason that always stuck with me. And thankfully it did because years later i started having this big lump in my neck and i decided to have it checked out. Usually i’m a “it’s probably nothing” type of person so i never would’ve gone, but i did and it turned out to be cancer! Basic biology knowlegde is so important❤

I've seen many other medical/ASMR 'General Examination' videos that take a lot longer than 5 minutes. I'm assuming that as long as the doctor covers all of the basic points, they can go into more depth in the examination if they *choose* to?
@DrJamesGill11 ай бұрын
The general exam, is in my humble opinion, a bit of a fake examination. Someone doesn’t go to the doctor and say “Doc my general is a bit sore, could you examine it please” However it is used at medical as the first week assessment, as it gets student started. Also it works as a general over view to the patient, where you may highlight something and then need to dig into other systems to find out what is going on It’s very much a “mirror, signal,manoeuvre” type exam
@VonDoughBoy11 ай бұрын
@@DrJamesGillI have never thought about it in that way, but this makes complete sense haha. I have never been to the doctor and asked for a general overview, aside from jobs looking for physicals to be done. Have you ever had a general overview where someone had something seriously going wrong with them?

That lymph node check in the neck is super important. A doctor missed my lymphoma even if i had a rather large lump near the clavicle. Im guessing this is because lymphoma is so rare and most doctors probably do this exam their entire career without finding a single case? Great video! As someone with deep veins I love how quickly it appeared you were able to find hers for the purposes of taking her pulse, lol, I always have to remove my watch when they try to take mine during the health history portion of blood donation appointments and even then they take a few seconds and some deeper pressure to find it 😂. I do love being able to track my pulse and bp however every time I go and am very satisfied when my pulse reads it’s standard 64 bpm and my bp is within a normal range 😂😂😂. As someone for which high blood pressure runs in my family it’s something I do everything I can to try and avoid!
