What does vertical hold have in common with the remote control. Cathode ray tube TVs needed a vertical hod circuit. I was repairing TV in my teens in the 50s. Side note here. My dad invented the first remote TV control back in the 50s. "Boy, get up there and change the channel."

My Grandparents had a remote control (wired to the TV) in the early 60's. The TV had a loooong cord attached to the TV. The sound it made changing channels was much like the 8 track tape sound of changing tracks; Clunk!

I remember a lot of these. I was in kindergarten in 1958. I can remember my mother wearing poodle skirts and I also remember the oil embargo I was driving a 1970 Mustang in 1974. My dad said I should sell it. it was a gas hog, I guess he was right. I can remember when I was five years old. Going to kindergarten. Sometimes I look back at all the years and wonder where did they all go. I’m now 70 years old and my and I have two other older brothers that are still alive One is 77 and the oldest living one is 80. My oldest brother passed away in 2003 he was almost 64. He was born in 1941. Both of my parents are long gone now there’s just me and my two older brothers and one younger brother left and I have nieces and nephews. Like I say, I wonder where all the years went thanks for the videos they bring back old memories and make me think a lot. Thanks for the video. Appreciate it very much. Have a good day wherever you may be.👍👍❤️🎸😎

The one about the 1960 group the sneakers where did they come from. I got that one wrong I never heard of the seekers. I thought you were asking the question of the British invasion they all come from England but again I didn’t know anything about this group, so I got that one wrong And I got another one wrong. I only missed two. I grew up in this late 50s and early 60s. I’ve studied a lot of music and I’ve learned a lot about guitar players and different bands. I am a solo instrumental guitarist. I have been playing since 1974, so I have quite un knowledge of music and musicians. Creedence Clearwater Revival was one of my favorite bands along with the Beatles and eagles and Led Zeppelin was my favorite rock band. But on the other hand, you make a person really think thanks for the video. I’m going to save it love it.👍👍😁❤️🎸

My first wife was from Louisiana. She went to a Louisiana hayride and met Faron Young and they went out on a few dates. She also met Elvis Presley there too, but he wouldn’t talk. He didn’t even say hello he kept to himself. If you asked me, he was a little bit on the arrogant side.

Actually Elvis was quite shy. I prefer to think shyness over arrogance at that point in his career.

That is the point of these tests, to make us feel better. Most every question was easily answered by us because the elderly have very good recall of events of our teens and our twenties. These are things we can easily recall because of the fact that they were added to long term memory. With very limited television stations and our habit of listening to radios, we heard many of these items countless times.

This is designed to test Seniors on knowledge we have NO problem recalling. Much like the vocabulary tests they are designed to make us feel better about ourselves. It would be a more serious quiz to test our memories from the 2000's, a time period that we didn't so easily convert to long-term memory due to our divided attention from the glut of information that flooded our lives!

Bell bottom jeans were known as Elephant bells and not “ears”
@leefi13 күн бұрын
You are absolutely correct! Blue jeans were only worn by workers until the late 60's. I had never seen anyone wearing them except for ONE girl in Elementary School in a fishing village we moved to in 1958; Thunderbolt Georgia (now part of Savannah). Her family were shrimpers, they were poor. She was very conspicuous as the only girl who didn't were dresses to school. I grew up poor in the deep South, but we never wore jeans, even the poor were too proud to wear them. Then the Hippies embraced them in the late 60's., and Americans wear them everywhere for any occasion!

Give me back the 70's when "peace, love and understanding" was a core belief of my contemporaries. I came out to my university in Alabama in 1970. I found nothing but love and acceptance, and have never experienced any hostility or prejudice in my life. I''m 74, but I do not believe gay kids today in Alabama would have the same experience in 2025 that I had in 1970! It is sad that we are becoming less tolerant of our differences in America. Most of my close friends in Houston the 80's and 90's were very wealthy Republicans. They were wonderful, kind, and generous people who loved me; a gay, liberal, atheist. Their one fault? They hate paying taxes, so they will vote for any monster who promises to lower their taxes. Paying taxes are patriotic!

They were a huge hit all over the nation. We sold 100's at our store in Houston, along with tiny barrels of crude oil as mementos of their visits to Texas. Our customer base was international, so those pet rocks traveled across the world. California, Texas and New York are where most national trends start; ridiculous or not!
