In the ACW-era army the group of men who operated a field gun were known as a detachment, not a crew. A crew was only in the navy. If you want to be more accurate with your commands, 2 guns were known as a section. So as a junior officer you’d command the left or right piece of your section. In practice, most individual guns were micromanaged by the chief of piece who was a sergeant and typically mounted.

That was a good game. That sniper artillery shot was incredible. The timing and placement was absolutely movie on point. Like there's never been that good of a shot. ..crazy good. Been stomping the feds lately. Hardly ever see them win. Not really surprised. _edit_ that was rude. I love arty when they are able to fire. It seems there is always a company going after the arty but nobody leaves a company to defend. Also, I am surprised nobody preloads the other cannons. Yes you have maybe only one crew but you have more then one gun. Get you gun crew loading the other guns and fire a few test shots to pre set the range. You could have arty set up to go off on pre planned locations doing this.
