Always remember to fully annex Pastaza for the rubber matter,as puppeting or playing as Peru (the full Pastaza region has around 16 slots of rubber and for completing the Exploiting the Amazon journal you need at least 15 levels of rubber) Else the divided state which Peru starts with, can't trigger the journal event

Still haven't finished the video, so not sure if you consider this. The U.S. starting with homesteading means that Yeomen farmers are very powerful. If you can get an anarchist Yeomen agitator, you can enact multiculturalism and socialism very early in the game, shooting up your already sky high SoL, attracting even more migrants. I had a game in 1.5 that ended up with 300 million people in the U.S., and I didn't even optimize that game well. Hopefully you consider this path. EDIT: Regarding African American pops, I think colonizing, but not incorporating Africa makes sense. I usually gather them all up and then release as a puppet. This allows me to get lots of migration from my African puppets.

I heard that if you leave a greener grass campaign on in a state experiencing a mass migration, you get even more pops than you normally would. Is this true? Is it better to just leave the edict where it is, or move it somewhere else to try to farm for another migration?

54:20 Early universal suffrage = strong support for rural folk Should not have done that, probably wealth voting would be the best to draw clout away from rural folk and landowners, towards industrialists and intelligentsia (and thus the end of slavery). Though getting poor laws (like 2 minutes later) slightly fixes the ultra high support for rural folk too so the situation is not too bad. I would be in favor of a reroll tbh.

I tend to find that census suffrage is the best early game law, it still allows the industrialists to get powerful but not usually 40%+ clout like they do on wealth voting, and it keeps the RF down pretty well while pushing up intelligensia. Though it can get you in trouble with the devout sometimes since clergy also have boosted education access

USA has many rural folks agitators that are reformers or radicals. I think it is pretty easy to pass good laws at the start with universal suffrage. A few times my second law pass was laissez-faire as the industrialists were able to join the government with very high legitimately. And after the civil war I did a few more laws before switching back to census suffrage, and easily because while half my clout was rural the other half supports the law for a fast pass.

mass migration is affected by both the individual state migration and your average migration attraction, you can use the edict in as many states to try and increase the average

This is more of a hunch, as i did not test this on purpose, but from my experience at least it appears that the "conscript bug" is more of an oversight on the part of the developers on how the conscription center works on a state level. For example, if you have 4 armies that have conscription centers in Pennsylvania and you mobilise one army with its conscripts the game does not know how to diferentiate between the armies and it will raise all conscripts in Pennsylvania leading to the appeareance of the bug. The only way to play around this problem is for the conscripts in a state to be exclusively assigned to one army only. Still I do realise that i may be wrong.

PA has both coal and Iron, as well as a coal bonus. It was more important before (when you needed 10 levels) but you also need steel in PA to slot in the Carnige company. Alabama is a good shout too

If you're having trouble conquering Peru early game (personally, I managed to land them in Cajamarca, but as soon as Peru proper got a front with me, they pushed me back into the sea), you can go for Ecuador first to get a land border with them. It's a 2-state insignificant power, so you can take it for 8,5 infamy (as USA) at the start of the game; they only have 7 battalions compared to Peru's 35; and their capital starts with 1 million pops and has both iron and coal, so you'll want it for good MAPI for making tools eventually anyway.

I tried this run a few days prior. Forgot to set the Aggressive setting for Consolidation, big mistake. By 1895 the game became unplayable from all the calculations the game had to do because of my USA migrant empire, I believe only 50-60% of my circa 200m pops were Yankee/Dixie, the rest 40% comprehended of what seemed multiple dozens of more cultures. Migrant Attraction + Public Health in the USA is so OP it literally broke my game, felt like infinite and stupidly fast pop growth.

Have you done any thinking/spreadsheeting around when to build more ports for convoys and trade? It always feels bad but I haven't looked into the math of growing trade routes. Proportionally they seem too small to matter given the demands of the port but that's purely speculation.

Man, I just got into Victoria 3 the other day, Vicky 2 is my all time favorite Paradox game and I tried Victoria 3 without buying back when it released and I was just disgusted with it. I knew Paradox always has rough releases, but I let my love for Vicky 2 get in the way. Anyways, I finally tried it again when I saw the Humble Bundle had it and after playing for a few hours I liked where it was so I picked it up on the Bundle and finally that lead me here to your tutorials. Man, I am super impressed with the way you run this channel, I checked the Patreon looking for that spreadsheet on one of your 1.5 tutorial videos and saw you put up schedules and everything all related to KZbin stuff. Your tutorials are well done, I've learned plenty even though I started watching after having a successful Persia campaign by making all the beginner mistakes you point out, and I'm just overall impressed with the amount, quality, and effort even with a lower subscriber count. I don't typically subscribe to tutorial channels often, but you got a sub from me. Definitely hope the game keeps getting better so I can keep coming back and learning more as it does.

Honestly you shouldn’t be allowed to change the capital until either after the civil war or if you avoided it. DC was chosen due to is central location back then and the south would never agree to the capital being in NY or PA that’s why they moved it in the first place to DC too

I love your videos. I'm not too sure if that's something you could make a tutorial about: But I'd love to see a guide on internal politics besides laws. So I mean stuff like managing radicals, revolutions, taxation level, military and government wages, agitators, shaping the political landscape in your country both in terms of IG clout and parties/character ideologies and so on. Maybe even stuff like which new states to incorporate and decrees.

The very best first war for the US is making Mexico a protectorate imo. You can just annex them and ignore the JE for manifest destiny which costs a lot of infamy anyways. In my tries France always defended them but since the Ai is really bad at war I was able to get warreps and the american holdings from France for free. This also caused a lot of turmoil in France resulting in a lot of mass migrations.

I don't have the math, but Iirc I looked at it and its more infamy overall and also takes longer to get gold provinces than taking land and protectorating after. Also the big chunk makes a lot of reverse sways harder to do, which is hard to quantify

Instead of posting my spoiler heavy USA opener strategy, I would encourage everyone to try playing USA doing exactly the opposite of what the journal entries encourage you to do and playing... ahistorical. USA has the most flavor of any country, paradox put some easter eggs in there for anyone ready to try some brave strategies.
