Kickass sci-fi heroine versus deadly aliens
Growing up as a Martian on Earth has left Jas Harrington solitary, quick-tempered, and with zero tolerance for fools. All plus points when working as chief security officer aboard prospecting starships.
Jas' latest berth is aboard the Galathea, which trawls the reaches of the galaxy seeking precious minerals and rare resources. She thinks it's a routine trip. She's wrong.
An inspection of a far-flung planet leaves Jas suspicious that there's more to the place than meets the eye. If only she could convince the captain of the need for caution, but she might as well wish for a tasty meal in the ship's canteen.
When the captain disciplines Jas for insubordination, she has only two allies: a timid navigator and the second pilot, who has the hots for her. Not that Jas notices.
All hell breaks loose, and Jas' skills are put to the ultimate test. Can she enlist the help of the only two friends she has? She's in a race against time to prevent the aliens from achieving their goal: Generation.
If she fails, the ship's crew, the galactic empire, and humanity itself are at risk.
Generation is book one in the fast-paced, action-packed Shadows of the Void space opera.

I have to ask... What sort of accent are you going for with Lee? I'm thinking it's American south? She sounds kinda like Forrest Gump. I'm honestly not trying to be offensive, it just makes me chuckle a bit, thinking about how often me and my friends quote Monty Python , and I wonder how that might sound to an actual Englishuman. (Like what I did there with the androgenous Englishman? Thinking I should copyright that one! 😏)

Lol, so that's a long story. In short, yes it's supposed to be southern US but I know it's very shaky. When I wrote the Shadows of the Void series I never imagined I would be recording the audiobooks myself. The editor for that series is from Georgia, US, so I felt confident including a character from a similar area, knowing the editor could help with the correct turns of phrase, idioms and so on. Recording the books has been challenging. I lived in Australia for a time so I'm fine with that accent, but southern US? Not so much. Apologies if it's hard to listen to. No offence intended.

Although the story is just alright, with some things that annoyed me a lot (mostly first part of the novel; too much repetition of "pasha or sasha" when in the end it was Margaret (...); jazz "mental illness" arc or the way lobar was eaten by that mass (this noooo was hilarious), and wont be the something i will remember for long, due to way you publish audiobooks i will continue the journey, which otherwise i would end there. Who knows, maybe the plot and character developement will get better in next volumes. For now however this is 6+/10 (maybe 7-) story, not mainblowing, but not bad either.
