If they did a reboot, it could be Planeteers Next Phase using the kids of the original Planeteers. I think the two scariest villains were Zon and Captain Pollution even if Pollution didn't have much in the way of brain cells. Zon was a true major threat, and Dr. Blight was also one of the better villains in the show. IF they wanted to slow play the next series, the new Planeteers could be completely unrelated to the original crew but slowly hand picked by Gaia. She could start with one who is then charged to find other like minded people.

Dr. Blight was the defacto arch-enemy of the Planeteers though. Each person had a specific counterpart in the Eco-Villains, but Ma-ti's baddie was always the most gruesome. Zarm is an anagram of both Mars and War. Gaia=Peace The power ring elements represent either an emotion or virtue like GL rings...aside from Ma-Ti who has a Wonder Woman/Raven/Vixen blend in his ring...let that sink in about Wonder Woman if you think he's useless. Gaia trusts the kid with Diana's most iconic power...I wouldn't want to upset the guy...or worse...be on an Un *bear* able counterstrike. Ma-Ti is Love, Blight is Hate. Wheeler is Courage, Duke Nukem (who they could rename to still use later to The Nuke Duke to avoid confusion if that's the problem) is Fear. Linka is Joy, Sludge is Despair Kwame is Hopefulness, Plunder is Hoplessness Gi is Positive Change, Skumm is Negative Change...but nobody ever attacked them more than Dr. Blight did. Captain Planet also allud that Blight's hate level is almost on par with Da Feurhr's. I mean.....yikes.

I used to watch one of these episodes on Cartoon Network when I was a kid. Also… the original animation from Seasons 1-3 were good, but the new animation by Hanna-Barbera from Seasons 4-6 were twice as better. Making The new adventures of Captain Planet & the Planeteers from Seasons 4-6 the equivalent of Jonny Quest that was also made by Hanna-Barbera. Now I wish that The new adventures of Captain Planet & the Planeteers was released on a complete series on DVD. I like most of the episodes that feature some of my favorite animals just as in the 1st 3 Seasons in the original animation.

Ehhh…I don’t know about the animation of the HB era being better, but definitely more consistent. As evidenced by the first few minutes of this video, the DIC team could really bring it when inclined, especially in the first half of Season 1, but as time went on, the quality decline was drastic. There is no real variance in animation quality during the HB era. The HB era did have better writing though.

I used to love this show as a kid. Captain Planet is quite similar to Superman. The difference is that Superman has the heart for humanity.
