Sir, how to ensure that I have chosen the correct distribution as you interestingly pointed out that if I am choosing "Gaussian" then my prediction is going wrong but if I am choosing other distribution then it turns out to be correct? Could you please provide some insights?

I would start with plotting and visually inspecting the distribution or binning and plotting the histogram to get the sense. There are other robust parametric approaches also available to find the distribution parameters and then perform a goodness of fit test. Hope this answers your question.
