Mindcrack Ep 42 - "Fixing The Chicken XP Farm!!!" Minecraft Survival Multiplayer

In this episode...I haven't had the Chicken XP farm up and running since the "1700+ chicken incident"

there's a couple reasons why I can't without doing a lot of heavy modifications. Weighted pressure plates max out at around 165 mobs, which is enough XP to reach level 30 if I were dealing with zombies etc, but not with chickens. Also, a pressure plate on top of the hopper would lock it, breaking my design :)

Genny, you can put the hopper aiming into a chest immediately under the one that puts them in the dispenser; A hopper will only take from the hopper when it's locked, it's part of the priority system.

Right now, Genny just collects eggs in a chest when there are 6 days worth of chickens in the XP hole. When the chest is full, the eggs will overflow and cause lag. So he better get rid of them by firing them into a second hole where he also gets FREE GRILLED CHICKEN over time (plus the XP from his 580 chickens). Sounds better to me than a chestful of eggs and lag ;)

weighted pressure plates are in the game, but Dinnerbone is redesigning how they function in 1.7. Right now, it only works works when items are place on them, As show by Genny when he place the stack of chicken on the plate. But in 1.7 they will function with items and entities i.e Zombies, Villagers or your character etc.

In the new Snapshot, the heavy and light pressure plates can measure the amount of mobs/items as opposed to their simple ability to measure the amount of items on them. So, you can eventually make a mechanism that stops making chickens after you have enough for 30 levels.

You should move the alarm to a higher position to hear it better. Make a clock branch off of the "12 minecraft days" timer with a Redstone repeater going into a Redstone torch vertical wiring system that would pulse on and off so the noteblock would be way louder and more easily heard! :)

Hi Generik!! I might be wrong, but I think you should empty the dispenser with the eggs before restarting every cycle. Because if it really is an exponential function and you change the starting amount of chickens, it will change A LOT the final result. As a I said, I might be wrong , but I thought I should tell you.

Generik talked about it in another video I think, or maybe it was this one. They might have a FTB reset in January or February. The main reason they stopped was because everyone got tired of automating everything in an outdated version of minecraft. They couldn't update on the same server because some mods weren't updated. Updating a mod server almost guarantees a world reset and new versions of minecraft come out too quickly for mindcrack style LPs on single worlds.

Generik why not replace the hopper with a dropper. Every time it turns day, an item would go from the dropper to the counting hopper. Then, simply put a comparator coming from the dropper. When it is empty, lock the system! The lever switch would then reset the system. :)

Generik, if you throw the splash potion of harming and then quickly switch to a looting sword before the potion hits the chickens, it will apply the looting affect without using the durability. Like so he can see

You should change the lever to a button and use a latch, then reset the latch when it locks the farm, then the light will tell you if the time has stopped

You should put the comparator at the end of the other hopper, and then put a NOT gate, so that you can more easily change the time: the signal will go out only when the hopper is empty. Also, you could have made it more simple by putting a dropper instead of a hopper. These things will only drop one item at the same time, unlike the hopper that you had to connect with a pulse limiter in order to do the same thing.

etho got xp from blazes without hitting them in one of his latest solo player world, he went from the splash potion to the diamond sword and it gave him the XP, i don't know why, but it apparantly works

You should have it where there is a pulse every time an egg comes. Then, attach that purser to a sticky piston with a redstone block. So if so many eggs are coming in, the piston should let go of the redstone block and send a signal to the egg shooter to lock and stop it. Pls like this so he can see! :-)

Use gold/iron pressure plates hooked up to a comparator then inverter so it shuts off at a certain max number. Go to the wiki for details on that.

Would this work: Have one tank/chicken trap with just a few (dozen?) chickens in it laying eggs into a hopper. Have this tank in public view and all gussied up. Have a second trap where the eggs from the first trap get hatched and the chickens get processed. The rate would be controlled by the number of chickens in the first tank, with only a limited number of chickens you would only have so many eggs per hour, so you would never have too many chickens at once. The only redstone would be the clock to shoot out the eggs automatically. Edit: For chicken XP you would require a shutoff for the auto-killer. Like Genny did just have the auto killer go off ever few Minecraft days to prevent huge numbers of chickens.

You could have made the counter more dynamic by using the comparator to check for ZERO items instead. Then you could throw in any number of eggs you want to adjust the counter to your needs.

In theory, you can figure out how many days you need by calculating the equation 60.In till you equal or surpass 412.5 btw in is the natural logarithm and 412.5 is in average ( by mean or medium) how many chickens you need to reach level 38
