About ECO:
Enter the world of Eco, where you must team-up to build civilization and prevent a disaster, using resources from a fully simulated ecosystem, where your every action affects the lives of countless species.
Will you and your fellow builders collaborate successfully, creating laws to guide player actions, finding a balance that takes from the ecosystem without damaging it? Or will the world be destroyed by short-sighted choices that pollute the environment in exchange for immediate resource gains? Or, do players act too slowly, and the world is consumed by a disaster that could have been avoided if you developed the right technology? In Eco, you must find a balance as a group if the world is to survive.
A world-survival game
Eco is a survival game in a global sense, where it is not just the individual or group who is threatened, but the world itself. The world of Eco will be home to a population of thousands of simulated plants and animals of dozens of species, each living out their lives on a server running 24 hours a day, growing, feeding and reproducing, with their existence highly dependent on other species.
Enter humans into this equation, and things get complicated. It is the role of players to thrive in this environment by using resources from the world to eat, build, discover, learn and invent. However, every resource they take affects the environment it is taken from, and without careful planning and understanding of the ecosystem, lands can become deforested and polluted, habitats destroyed, and species left extinct.
In the extreme, the food supply of the ecosystem can be destroyed, along with all human life on it, resulting in server-wide perma-death. Eco is a game where the player’s actions have meaningful consequences.
Everything you do affects the ecosystem, and players can destroy their food supply and world (server-wide permadeath)
Create a player-run government to make decisions as a group, proposing and voting on laws
Use data gathered from the world to propose and vote on laws as a group. Debate with scientific argumentation.
Create a player-run economy that allows you to sell not only good but services in the form of server-enforced contracts (simulating a player driven quest system).
PvP takes the form of a player-run criminal justice system. Breaking the player-made laws can result in arrest and punishment.
Your food level determines your skill-increase rate, making food very important and tying players directly to the ecosystem from which it comes.
A game with goals higher than entertainment. We plan to build it for schools as an augmented classroom world students share.

if they don't want to pay for the food, make deals. Like when someone gives you access to as much energy as you want, give him as much food as he wants. If someone gives you access to building materials, give him access to food. Just make sure everyone has to work for their food. You should also throw crappy rotten food in a bin behind the house. for those who really don't want to pay XD

Crazy idea. Using tailings as currency to help encourage people from just tossing them. They come in different tiers for different monetary notes and as the metal industry grows the whole server becomes wealthier. Of course that would also mean the local government would need to come up with a way of stopping inflation

Generikb!!! just build a windmill and place it on the outside of the building where the mill is, the super basic windmill provides 10w to the power grid! which is enough to run the mill with just one.

Beware....the road ramps are buggy af! you need to dig one air space between the "floor" and the ramp...also you should make this "floor out of dirt road. So it should be something like this: dirt road | air space + 1 piece of dirt road to work as a placeholder for the ramp | stone road ramp

You guys are using the store wrong, at the store if you look at the bottom right of the item ( selling or buying ) you will se how much credits it really costs. What you have been doing is how much on that item you want. What i mean is that where you can change the numbers is ( how much you want to sell/buy ) and the numbers under it will show you how much that amount will cost.... the number on the bottom right of the pictures shows how much 1 of that item costs.

The large butchery efficiency skill allows you to make more food faster. Instead of making 10 and it taking a billion years. You can make 9, but at a faster rate.

my theory is that the raw meat used in recipes of cooking will require less, and it is showing you what raw meat comes from. why it went to 9 for what you get from an elk? my theory is that its a way of rounding so that the difference ends up being 12% when you make the meat into something, you get less meat on the front end, but end up with more product when you cook it.

What will they do when the server runs out of resources(like ore and coal), will that also regenerate over time? Same problems as in real life, I guess. But I guess ECO worlds run out faster than irl.

stefanw1337 After you gather most of the resources a world deluge happens where a couple people survive n no ones really aware of the tech of the previous civ due to the fact that they have their own survival to worry about. All of the old resources return to the earth and remix with the dirt leaving no clue as to what it was previously. But that's just a theory...
