I have seen Muslims use this argument often, while the answer is right in the next verse. But Muslims have no clue what this covenant means. Likewise, Muslims don't know what the tabernacle is and claim that Moses went on pilgrimage to Mecca. Of course this is just nonsense. Isaac is called Abraham's only son (Genesis 22:2), clearly indicating that Ismael has no status in Abraham's household anymore. It is mentioned for a very good reason that Ismael was the son of a concubine, while Isaac was the son of Abraham's wife. Later when Abraham dies, he leaves everything to Isaac (Gen 25:5). Again proving clearly that Ismael had no rights to Abraham's heritage. No matter how you turn this story inside out, Ismael is nothing more than a footnote. That is, until after Mohammed died, and somebody claimed Islam to be of Abrahamic origin. Indeed, this can only be attributed to the wish of many to give Islam some credibility. The problem is of course that Islam chose the wrong son of Abraham. Islam picked the wild donkey, the outcast, the son of a slave and concubine.

The funny thing is the book of Galatians condemns this false covenant of Ishmael. The true covenant is with Issac and his line. The word for great in that text is from the root Resh, bet and hey ie Rabah and always connotes greatness in number( quantitative). Reading the full verse its used with mem , aleph, dalet ie (meod) repeated 2 times. "Meod" is translated muchness or to give something your best shot. So the blessing to the hebrew ear is to make him bring forth abundantly abundant descendants. Their argument may have had a little merit if say "gadol" was used which may indicated great in the sense of quality, though even that the surrounding texts and all other texts should not contradict it

While it is true that there is only one God to worship, you can remember that man transgress against the commandments of God and were chase out of the garden of Eden, since then the evil of man continue unabated. That's why Jesus Christ who is from the linage of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob Judah, Jesse, David, Solomon up to Joseph who by the grace of God father the Lord Jesus who is the only begotten son that came to atone for the disobedient of Men and finally offer himself up as a living sacrifice in order to reconcile men back to God. From my interpretation as a native English speaker refering to him as a wild donkey 'of a man' speaks to his demeanor/behavior. In this case it is refering to him always fighting and being defiant. In that verse we do not find any name beside Abraham, Isaac & Jacob (in that order of lineage). If allah knows best, he must certainly knew how important Ishmael to be mentioned, but why god didnt put Ishmael into that verse? Moslems always claim that quran is word of god, complete and detail. If this claim is true, Abraham, Isaac & Jacob (in this order) is already a complete and detail statement of allah, so why you need to add Ishmael into tafsir? Does quran need tafsir to be completed? Remember, Ishmael is a name or character or person so how the tafsir suddenly add one more character into that verse which is only contains three names previously. Then the tafsir will only prove that quran is not complete and not clear because allah perhaps forgot one character or name to be mentioned.

It is very interesting to debate peacefully with people who really have minds. No doubt in that the Old testament (moses), The gospel (Jesus) and the Quran (Mohammed) all have great wisdom and they are unsurprisingly very similar because they all are the holy books of Allah, the only God and owner of everything. UNFORTUNATELY, despite the huge similarities and even identical wisdom in their, there are very few tiny differences between them BUT, these differences are not because the source (Allah) is different BUT it is surely because TWO main very clear causes >>>> like any books they may have UPDATES or CORRUPTIONS (intentionally or by editing mistakes). The order of these holy books of Allah is clear and no body doubt it Old testament > The Gospel > Quran This order is clear but this caused problems between the three religions until this moment HOW ? The Jewish refused any updates that came with Jesus 2000 years ago and this split the people into THREE sides the 1st is the Jewish who rejected Allah messages brought by Jesus (in gospel) and they even cooperate with Romans to kill Jesus despite the clear fact that Jesus was a GOOD Jewish man (not Christian) and he was sent to Israeli only not the gentile (non Israeli people). 2nd group of people who are Jewish BUT accepted the teachings of Jesus through the Gospel, and they were very few in numbers until they got UNFORTUNATELY exterminated. Those are the rightly guided people of Allah, the people who followed both Moses & Jesus 3rd group who follow the teachings of people (like Paul) not related to Jesus and they even didn't meet Jesus through their life and they made their own Gospels (Decades after Jesus) that are partially related to Jesus gospel BUT they are not the same of Jesus teachings and now they are called CHRISTIANS, and this religion is not related or connected to Jesus in any way because 1st Jesus was a good Jewish man not Christian and 2nd it was send to Israeli ONLY not the gentile like Europeans, that's why the New testament is not Jesus Gospel, it is other ordinary people gospels that contain notes and wisdom from Jesus gospel BUT with many notes and information not related to Jesus in any way especially Pauls teachings, that's why you can't take the new testament and say hey this is 100% true because it is simply not the true one gospel of Jesus. This dilemma must be taught to ALL the human beings, these are undoubted FACTS. That is why Allah did steps >>>> 1st Allah raised Jesus to the sky and Jesus until this moment is living in the Sky and will return back at the end time and will be the Messiah ( the true messiah). 2nd Allah Punished Jewish who refused Jesus teachings so destroyed ancient Israel very very very shortly after Jesus nearly year 86 A.D (Romans destruction of Israel) and this is a true fact and explanation of the question "why Allah allow the destruction of his chosen peoples land ? " simply because they refused Jesus teachings. 3rd Allah send a new prophet 500 years after Jerusalem destruction, but this time the prophet is special in that: 1. He is the last prophet. And Allah message to humanity through Muhammad successfully reached us and it is present today, clear like the sun of the Sky. 2. Not from Jacob sons (Israeli) but from their cousins Ishmael sons (and by the way this is mentioned in Jewish scripture that Ishmael sons will make a very great empires and will be very numerous) 3. Most importantly that this prophet is sent not only to Jewish (like Jesus) BUT to both Jewish and the Gentile (like Europeans and all the other humanity). So this time Allah message is not ethnoreligous like Moses and Jesus teachings but to ALL humanity. Allah look after the gentile to guide them to his true path after spreading of human made religion (Christianity), Allah call Christianity astray which means they want to follow his true path but they were misguided and Allah called Jewish who rejected Jesus teachings "People who have earned Allah anger". The messenger is Muhammad the last prophet of Allah. Was sent to complete Allah true message and to bring back the teachings of Jesus because as I said Jesus followers was a tiny minority and with time they get exterminated, those Jesus followers are the people who accepted Allah messages of Moses (old testament) and Jesus (the Gospel of Jesus not the new testament of other Greek ordinary people). So simply Islam is the generalized form of Jesus teachings (old testament + the Gospel) which are neither Judaism (old testament only ) nor Christians (Old testament + new testament which is a man made book not 100% Jesus teachings). After sending Mohammed as the last messenger, Muhammad faced exactly the same problems that Jesus faced : 1. Pagans of Mecca fight Muhammad (similar to Romans pagans who fight Jesus). 2. Jewish of Madina who cooperate with pagans to kill Muhammad (like Jewish of Jerusalem who cooperate with Romans to kill Jesus).

The allah of quran is not YHWH of Abraham. There is not any proof that Muhammad came through Ishmael's lineage. Even if he did, Muhammad was a blasphemer for teaching of a different God. Nothing Allah said was what YHWH said. Muhammad went against everything the Prophets of YHWH said. Muhammad violated ALL 10 Commandments. Neither Abraham, nor Ishmael ever traveled south into Arabia. Ishmael and his sons settled in the areas between Egypt and Assyria. That's not to say that their grandchildren didn't mix with Arabs, they did eventually, but there is no established lineage between muhammad and Ishmael. And Muhammad preached another God, than who Ishmael worshipped anyways. So get over this silly argument.

Doesn’t matter how big or small a blessing is. God blessed Ishmael and his descendants and made a nation. Seems like a whole lotta people have been tricked into forgettting that if you are against those blessed by god you become cursed. The sands of time and some conflicts going on in previous or current times shouldn’t make you forget that. Be careful of people deceiving you into thinking just israel was blessed.

Even if those ARE contradictions, a Muslim is to believe in them, because Quran 4:136, 150, 152, 2:285 and 40:70-72 as a whole, tell Muslims to believe in ALL the "books of Allah" or be "far astray" and "dragged off into hell fire". Also, in Quran 10:94, you are to go to those who have been READING the "before Scriptures" (Bible).

However, remember that Mohammed and Allah put the seal of approval on the scriptures and you cannot defy that unless you want to defy them. You say, give us the ORIGINAL BOOK, ORIGINAL FORM, ETC. ETC. ETC. Really? Mohammed didn't even write. His sayings were not even written down systematically as was the Bible. There is no preservation of an original Quran--but you demand it of the Bible. Tell you what, produce an original Quran, and we'll produce and original manuscript of of the original manuscripts of the Bible. The Hadith is most of what you rely on and they were not written till hundreds of years after Mohammed died. And there are no originals. BTW, there are dozens of different versions of the Quran--what about that? (Read the Quran, it is organized by the length of the chapter. There are no cohesive books, narrating an event or giving a comprehensive teaching. It is a mishmash that goes back and forth between the Medina and Mecca surahs.) Bottom line, Mohammed and Allah approved the Bible as it existed in Jesus' time and in Mohammed's time. Are you going to contradict them?
