To clarify, when I mentioned PPMD being "annoying" it was more a word I used to describe how hard it is to play against him for me. It's fun playing vs him cause it challenges me so much but also annoying cause I have such a hard time to get in. I have 100% respect for his style and him as a player (often praised his Marth vs Peach especially). I feel like I often get missunderstood/not described correctly in commentary, not sure why tbh

I think the truest testament to PPMD's skill-level is Armada's pop-off/reaction after winning. You have to be a truly menacing foe to illicit that kind of response from Armada.

What scares me is thar PPMD looked nowhere near the best of his potential, yet he still managed 5th at one of the largest tournaments in smash history. I can only imagine how well PP will do when he goes 100%.

Armada vs PP is great fucking Melee

Pretty scary. PPMD is nowhere near his peak performance (due to his health issues and his awful DI), and he almost sent the eventual Genesis 3 champion and #1 player in the world to Losers Quarters. PPMD will be Armada's kryptonite when he gets back to full health. Because his Fox really struggles against PP's Falco (and Mango's Falco). And then if his Marth can remain consistent (which it wasn't in this tourney), then Armada is really in trouble.

this is why armada has a peach. to avoid playing falco vs fox. but armada really needs to get up with his fox because 'peach is not viable' and 'will not survive in the meta'. and falco vs peach is considered falco favor, but basically every char over peach in the tier list has an advantage over her.

Green613 That was a completely different Armada though. And PP is currently struggling with Marth against his Fox, while his Marth was dominating at Apex. What PPMD needs to do is to get his Falco-Peach game back to how it was at point, because if he does that, then Armada is history. A Marth-Fox match would never happen again, as long as they start Falco vs Peach, and PP would win all the matchups: Falco>Peach, Marth>Peach, Falco>Fox.

RoyIsOurBoy_TTG That was also a completely different PP, and PP even says himself at every tourney he went to since Apex he hasn't felt even close to playing near good. Once PP polishes his game up he can definitely do it, we've seen him do it. Also he can do Marth-Fox, it's just whenever he plays against Armada it looks really bad for PP because Armada's always on point and PP has almost always been off point.

I missed this, PPMD on point is incredibly powerful and entertaining. His Falco can execute a lot of precision and punish into kills quicker than more technically-oriented Falcos such as Westballz, who can rack up damage, but don't kill as easily or space as precisely. It was beautiful to see PP play at this level again (also with Marth), he can definitely still contend in the top. I feel he is less consistent and sharp overall than Armada though, but he'll get there hopefully :).

see the thing about it is armada was playing at maybe 85 percent capacity for this tournament, messing up stuff left and right but he still clutched it out so hard. armada can mess up, you cannot mess up against him. to beat his 85 you have to play 95+

+Nate watson Well ppmd hasnt been at his peak for over a year. His health keeps him from being able to focus and practice. He admitted himself that at evo, he wouldve lost to leffen and mango if he saw them in bracket. PPMD is unpracticed right now and he still clutched it this far. I cant wait for his health to improve so he can get active again.

PP definitely did a lot fo really cool stuff both in this set and vs Mango, he just couldn't really keep up the pace for the entire set. He's definitely still capable of performing at the top level I think, just needs his health to improve so he can start playing more consistently again.

It's interesting how neither of them really defeated the other. Sure, Armada won, but they kinda had a stalemate the whole time. They each had 2 characters who beat 1 and lost to the other of the opponents. Would be interesting to see them play a set that lasted infinitely until one person won twice in a row, that way their counterpick would have been overcome.
