Can we talk about how fucking good ppmd is 5:42 he short hops and shines BEHIND armadas shield. peach has no OOS options to punish falco if he lands behind her shield at that spacing. armada has to roll to the left. pp knows and punishes with dair. 5:49. pp knows he fucked up and overextended after armada rolls to center stage to get out of his pressure. you know armada is waiting in center stage for pp to approach so he can get a fat punish. pp doesn't approach right away or try to punish the roll because he's a fuckin genius. pls come back to us soon pp 😭

The one thing I like the most about ppmd's style is it's very Street Fighter asking the fact that he's willing to be patient and that his spacing is absolutely excellent. He's the rare melee player that's going to play the long game over swagging it out.

At one point, one of the commentators says that people were saying that it was a 'big six.' As in, six gods. Whose godhood were people debating back then? I know it's Leffen right now, but I had no idea that it had gone on very long before Apex 2015.

Leffen made a huge impression earlier that year when he got third place at Apex 2014, beating Hbox. A few months later he beat PPMD at MLG Anaheim. Then a few months after this tournament he got third place at The Big House 4, beating Armada. Then of course, he beat mango for the first time at BEAST 5 and M2K at Apex 2015. So yeah, 2014 was the year that Leffen showed he COULD be as good as the gods, then in early 2015 he proved that he undoubtably WAS as good as the gods, and in the summer of 2015 he proved he could be BETTER than them when he won CEO, FC Return, and WTFox all in a row.

PP chokes his opponent until they're almost out of breath then backs away to strike again. Mang0 is hunting you down until your last stock is gone. Both are so crazy to watch. PP's looks so calculated, like he knows what to do in every situation. Mang0's looks like it is pure instinct. Like a predator vs a prey. You don't know how the job will get done, but you can be assured it'll be messy in the best way possible. In 2020 it feels like Mango has toned it down a bit and taken a lot of the laser work from PP, but still with that calculated aggression.
