I love the story of Joseph but I love it more now thanks to those additional information & insights shared by Dr. Wilcox, which brought more context to the stories of Abraham's family all the way down to Ephraim; forgiveness is indeed a gift not only to the reciever but also to the giver, and trusting in the Lord is the key that opens the beauty of this gift. OMGosh! Thank you so very much Dr. Wilcox for sharing your personal story. It’s been years since I heard you tell that story. I say heard cause I use to buy books on CD (prior to audible and podcasts) when I was a new member (20 yrs ago this May) I listened and read so much of Dr Wilcox, John Bytheway and Brad Wilcox that I had a hard time keeping straight who said what and in what talk/book. But when I first heard that story & needing a shelf open in our hearts for a prayer to go stayed with me. I have shared that story countless times. I do apologize for not giving the credit to you. I would always say “I heard someone say one time but I can’t remember who…” Now I can give you credit. Btw…I love this podcast. It is helping so much.

I love that Genesis shares Joseph’s personal revelations through dreams, Dreams he may or may not have understood until they unfolded in front of him. It feels to me in Joseph’s life that the Lord, who sees his challenges coming is preparing him, not setting him up to be sold into slavery-but loving him in a very fatherly way.

Great podcast! Oh, but it is true! The Lord uses our motivations and desires to bring about His will. I do believe Joseph was full of wisdom and understanding when he told his brothers that it was the Lord that brought him to Egypt. He knew the Lord was in control of his life because he lived worthily to be lead by the Lord. The Lord's ways are higher than our ways.

I'd never heard that Rachel might have been 10-11 yrs old when she first met Jacob. He mentioned it very briefly in passing. What's the basis for that?

I somewhat disagree with doctor Whitlock’s interpretation that the Lord will “remember our sins no more”. I wish I could remember which Apostle it was whose interpretation makes more sense to me. I will likely not do his explanation justice here. But in summary, it the Lord means “in meting put justice He will not attribute forgiven sins to us in the accountability ‘column’. To uee an accounting analogy. Further, as it relates to our forgiving and forgetting others’ offenses against us, it is a necessary part of our growth and progression, to rember events and occurrences as it helps us to avoid similar encounters in the future, either with that person or another. We should nevertheless, be willing and ready to forgive, but it does no mean we must submit to future abuse.

Dr Wilcox said Rachel married Jacob 7 days after Leah. Did he misspeak? Isn’t it 7 years or did I miss something?

He worked 7 years for Rachel but received Leah instead. When he realizes he's been tricked he asks for Rachel and Laban said after a week he could marry Rachel, but would still have to work an additional 7 years for her. (Genesis 29:27-29)

Genesis 29 says after a week Jacob married Rachel and then worked another seven years. 26 And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn. 27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years. 28 And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also. 29 And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid. 30 And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.

Leah and Rachel married Jacob 7 days apart. See Genesis 29:27-28. He worked 7 years, married Leah, waited a week to marry Rachel, and then owed Laban another 7 years of work.
