To answer a few questions: -This was filmed for Austrian TV, there's also a short interview that I removed as there was a problem with the audio. (I'll upload it later)-As far as I know, this is all the film from this show that remains today, but I could be wrong. (I hope) It's also impossible to know if they filmed the whole show or just some songs. -This video is straight from the original 16mm film, not from a broadcast source, that's why it looks great. -I'm not interested in getting money from this, or any other videos from my channel. Seeing people enjoying the video is the best possible reward for me.

Since they never released any complete live concert video from the ATTWT tour, like they did for 76, 77, and 80 onwards, this is a treasure in this quality. All the other 78 clips I've seen are fuzzy and/or dark, and they aren't pro shot.
@spiritof66632 ай бұрын
@@kbrewski1 I don't think there's any complete live concert video for the '76 and '77 tours. The "In Concert" film from 1976 only covers about 45 minutes of a two-hour show, and there's only a couple of professionally filmed 15-20 minute clips that survive from the "Wind And Wuthering" tour in '77. In fact, I don't there's any extant *complete* live video of a Genesis show until the Lyceum show from the "Duke" tour in 1980. A real shame!
@kbrewski12 ай бұрын
@spiritof6663 Yes, I shouldn't have said "complete". Maybe "pro shot" instead. The 80 Lyceum video is fantastic.
@spiritof66632 ай бұрын
@@kbrewski1 "Duke" is the last of the Genesis albums I really like and yes, that Lyceum show was killer! I'm glad at least that one was completely filmed. I feel we're also fortunate to have gotten an hour of pro-shot footage from the "Selling England" tour from Shepperton, representing about half the show--and there's some decent 8mm film synced to audio for most of the rest. "The Lamb" remains the most grating black hole in terms of watchable film footage--just a few minutes of "In The Cage", a few minutes of "Counting Out Time" and one decent-looking 8mm sequence from Bern that has about 25 minutes on it. I've tried watching those fan recreations of the "Lamb" show that include all the available 8/16mm footage from the tour, but unfortunately most of it is very low quality.

Saw this Genesis tour in ‘78 at Merriwether Post Pavillion in Maryland. My first Genesis concert! It was truely a spiritual experience. The vari-lights, spotlights, “smoke”, in conjunction with the giant hydraulic mirrors made this show totally mind blowing!! The music was magical! A night I vividly remember and will never forget!

I was at one of those shows too. 6th row left of center. Girl next to me was skeptical of my pre-show description of Genesis as the "best." After In the Cage she tapped me on the shoulder and says, "I've been to a lot concerts but have seen anything like THIS." Indeed, a great, great show. No Vari LItes. Those weren't invented until 1980, first anyone used them was Genesis on the Abacab tour.

The A.T.T.W.T. tour...brilliant songs and brilliant playing. I feel that this line-up never performed a better tour than this one(I've seen all of them) and the Drumming by Chester and Phil, individually and together, was magical. Phil's singing was so confidently on and Tony, Mike and Daryl kept the show in vivid musical color.
@kbrewski18 ай бұрын
You've seen every tour starting with Trespass?
@imdv-ub7fb8 ай бұрын
@@kbrewski1 My comment is slightly mis-leading; I've seen all of the "line-ups" not "tours". Regardless, I am quite familiar with the band and I am certain there are many other folks who are as well.
@kbrewski18 ай бұрын
@imdv-ub7fb No need to be so defensive . I saw Genesis 10 times on 6 different tours. Imo, the Duke 1980 Tour had a better setlist overall and since it was a small theater Tour, it was very cool seeing them in an intimate 3000 seat old theater rather than a 15/20K arena. I didn't get to see the 78 Tour because they skipped my city unfortunately, but I've got many ROIOs. Imo, Steurmer was still learning how to play Hackett's guitar parts and was a bit rough at times in 78. I think he blended in more smoothly in 1980.
@CoTeCiOtm3 ай бұрын
@@kbrewski1Daryl's guitar tone on the 1978 tour is abysmal, it's harsh and sharp with low gain and it sticks out like a sore thumb, it really didn't work well with the kind of textures Steve did originally. They REALLY improved on it with the years and the Duke tour was already sounding a lot better. I feel they peaked his guitar tone in 1992, but by that time he was mostly playing bass.

A golden era while Collins was still doing the Gabriel era music... glorious.
@ZerpersandeАй бұрын
Personally I wouldn’t call it the “Gabriel era”. Instead I would say it was a period of time when Gabriel was a part of the band. The fact that Gabriel left and Genesis still continued for another 25 years or more without him being part of the band says a lot about whether or not Gabriel was an essential part of Genesis. The first two albums after Gabriel left where the one is it a “cut my teeth on”. Were subtle changes between those two albums and the albums that came before but it was still very much the same kind of Genesis. For me the big change happened when Hackett left the band. I don’t know if it was simply because Hackett left or there was a shift toward more pop music that Collins, Banks, and Rutherford would have gravitated toward anyway. Regardless, there is no other bands like Genesis. Not a single one comes close. Of course that is a subjective opinion but for me it’s an opinion that has been honed from over 50 years of listening to the music of Genesis.
