A Genestealer Cult is a community of Genestealers, genestealer hybrids, as well as the completely human convert-hosts, infected victims and genetic relatives known as Brood Brothers, existing within another society.

Have listened to a few episodes now and I find them really charming. Genestealer Cults are one of my favourite factions because of their implications, the only way to poison an empire is through insurgency and sabotage, and they do it really well.

You know what would be neat of you to cover? Warp rifts and shoal zones, ie The Maelstrom, The Eye of Terror, and the various things that occur when warp anomalies pass through areas.

A broodlord is the upgrade for a genestealer brood unit’s upgraded squad leader, like ‘veteran sergeant’ for space marines, and a patriarch is the genestealer in charge of a genestealer cult in the genestealer cults faction, which did not exist at the time the broodlord was introduced but did exist before and after, so now we’re all confused.

@@GoodMorningRat-Men The Genestealers are a species intergrated into the Tyrnaid hive, but not fully. Not in the way Gaunts and Warriors are. A Patriarch is thier natural biological repoductive cycle where one of them gets big fat and smart to lead the cult. The Broodloard is the Tyranids own attempt to perfect the Genestealer and create thier own leader organisum that has Synapse. They are not natural creatures the way a Broodloard is. In the same way a Zoanthrope is made from the DNA of an Eldar, Tyrant Guard from Space marines and Biovores from Orcs, Broodloards are altered Genestealers. The origional model had Sycthing talons and other adaptations to represent this as well.

Well, we were doing a lot better before our codex dropped. It really stripped everything away. Probably some of the coolest models GW has made, but they screwed us royally. Hopefully a balance update fixes things 😓

​@@CaptainWwowW honestly, we were fine before the slate, and now we are too strong. The problem was, that the codex was difficult to figure out like it always is with us. We have 4 really good and fun detatchments. And also there is brood brothers... those are a bit shit

And yes, GSC are really cool, we are "the shadow over innsmouth" a group of cultists that range from slightly more powerful than a normal human to fighting space marines in 1v1, and above.

I totally agree that it is more interesting if some of the cult is, at least to some extent aware. Honestly, I think it is good that the narrative freedom exists within the lore that both can work. The cults can be great antagonists or protagonists for many kinds of stories that have different desires

Coming out out of this episode with 3 thoughts, It's funny to be listening to this while painting Skitarii and having Day of Ascension be mentioned. Painting Ryzans with malicious intent. Hearing someone say "cowdoy" is equally hilarious and painful as an American It does really help GSC have more appeal to see them as an intentional/proactive faction than tricked/reactive one.

I think they have amazing models, almost every kit is extremely kitbashable (they mostly come from the golden age of models before monopose). You can choose almost entirely how much body horror you want, the vehicles are really cool. They are one of the hardest factions to paint, but i have never enjoyed a faction so much. Every model is a little different with many different options for weapons and poses. Basically every necromunda kit can be kitbashed into unique cult models.

I think that is their big saving grace is that they are super kitbashable, I definitely have some ideas I would like to do at some point for GSC

​​@@GoodMorningRat-Men the neophyte hybrids are also just a great humanoid kit, the hazard suits, shotguns, pickaxes, knives, amazing bits, lots of head options. It's just a really nice battleline unit, with much potential, as long as you are alright with bald people😂😂
