One of my favorite rides from last year was taking my Harley Davidson Pan America up Geneva Creek Road here in Colorado. It was later in the season, October, and I had the trail and summit area to myself. I was eager to ride it again this year, but on the Aprilia Tuareg 660.
That was our plan on this day, hit Geneva Creek Road and enjoy the ride up and back down. From last year, the upper sections of the ascent were covered in loose baby heads. It was a challenge, to be sure. This year, the Forest Service has graded the road, all but eliminating the baby head section towards the top.
There were 3 variables taken into account when riding this road, and I was only hoping for 2:
1. Different Bike (the Tuareg vs the Pan America)
2. More experience
3. Manicured Trail
Between the 3, what was a challenging ride last year was much simpler and quicker this year.
Geneva Creek still supplied wonderful vistas, but the road has undergone enough maintenance to make it far easier that it was in 2022. With that said...I have a year of additional riding under my belt, and that helped as well.

Curious if the outer edges of your tubeless rims get banged up on that rocky terrain? I'm an east coast Tuareg rider who doesn't see much of that type terrain and wondered it it would be a problem with a low profile tire. Great videos 👍

Really good question. The rims have several small dings in the finish (nothing that is deforming the actual material). I rarely, if ever 'air-down', so having pressures set to spec helps keep the wheels from bottoming out (not that it can't happen). I also try and "pre-ride, re-ride, free-ride"...meaning when I'm in discovery mode, I take it real easy when seeing terrain for the first time. Second time a little faster, third time usually good to go for what pace I may feel comfortable with (which may be really slow still).
