That's probably a Smyth Ute conversion, they've got a bunch of cars that can be converted. I'm currently doing a Mk4 VW kit.

Definitely a Smyth kit.

@@kirkoglesby6175 I was shocked at how sturdy my Mk4 kit is. These kits have been hacked and upgraded with plenty of tips over the years since they first came out. I went all out and tried to use the best materials and build techniques. Everything is panel bonded with 3m structural adhesive. Basically any rivets are just holding it in place until it cures. The main tie point up in the bed where it meets the back of the cab, the rail is so strong you can bounce a hammer off it and play drums. Jack up one corner of the car, actually either end of it and "teeter totter" the car on the jack. Making it a "2 door" and getting rid of that rear door opening made it a lot stiffer. It kind of reminds me about the example of a convertible car versus a non-convertible car. Take a shoebox, and take the lid off, and twist the box. It flexes bad. Now put the lid on and try that. Way stiffer that way.

@MrTheHillfolk is absolutely a solid kit. I'm building my 2011 Chevy aveo. Unfortunately, I was too broke and had no support for the platform on my build. Which is fine. I used a truck that was headed to the scrap yard, and the car had rear collision damage. I'm just making the best of bad situations. Thankfully, I have more than enough skill to do it.

@@kirkoglesby6175 Man that's awesome, and makes it even more of a challenge with no support like that. I did a lot of "re-engineering" of the kit. It took me about 3yrs and 2000hrs ,but let me explain. I forgot the amount of hours I've sat there and looked at the thing trying to figure what to do next. So I'd say definitely 1000hrs ,maybe close to 1500 but definitely 1000. At first I just wanted simple truck, but it turned into a big snowball. When it's painted someday it'll be showworthy ,but I'll still feel the bed with manure! I polished my bed ,so wear sunglasses 😄😄 My build got out of hand ,I did air ride and also put about 5-6k in the actual car first trying to replace anything and everything that might be an issue. I've actually put almost 10k on it since last year according to my inspection sticker which I'm due this month.. No issues with the kit side of things ,and only a few minor bugs on the vehicle side. I've seen the video about why we can't have small trucks here anymore, but man we really could use them.

@MrTheHillfolk yeah, my biggest thing was just making wheel openings look proper proportionally. Getting the bed to set square cab back and so on. Just ended up really coming together nicely. I've built a ton of custom stuff over the years. I have a good background with metal manipulation. It's taken me about a month and a half. Plus, I have a good eye for lines. Makes a nice little 2 seat ute. Be nice if the big manufacturers in the states would bring the ones they sell overseas here. Though where there's a need or want us gearheads normally find a way to make it happen.

This is a kit from smyth. smyth ute company makes all kits kits to turn cars in to ute pickups from subarus, vw jetta beetle golf, dodge charger, jeeps and more. This wasn't just some guy randomly cutting a subaru into a ute.

A shooting brake is a 2 door wagon. The smyth kit won’t work on a wagon, per smyth.
