The time,effort,materials used and specialist tools and skills required to do this properly are not to be underestimated. Personally I would rather go to my own work that I am good at, do some overtime and use the money earned to buy what I need or pay a proper trades person to acquire/build it for me. Time and money saved. Ok so I don’t get the satisfaction of saying I made it, I can live with that.

Painting on some Ikea surface isn't durable. You can scratch paint off with a fingernail. Primer first will correct that but this clip shows mostly painting directly on surfaces without primer

Craigslist free is my primary material source - tools, lumber, furniture, decor. I can find almost anything I need if I'm patient and open-minded. I also thrift a lot of stuff I need or watch for it ara couple of surplus stores I like. (One of my favorites is the surplus dept. at the local university.) I regularly scour my neighborhood for "the free," as well.

Меня мама даже так воспитывала ещё в нищие 80-е. Типа, нет умений, возможностей и средств, не надо портить вещи. Лучше просто зашкурить старую мебель и покрыть лаком, чем городить свои безумные идеи. Это серьезные проекты. Тут время и деньги и тренировка нужны. А в квартире будет разгром от таких тренировок. А если времени нет, то это год может продолжаться. И по итогу вы поймёте, что купить подобную вещь было бы в 10 раз дешевле и в 100 качественнее. Если конечно, вы не хотите сделать это своей профессией и серьезным хобби. А ради двух вещей игра не стоит свеч.

Some good ideas, others are disasters waiting to happen. Using bowls or ceramic pots as stools or tables is just a bad idea. Anchoring cabinets with tiny anchors at 5:00 and then putting tile on top is risky. Looks nice but needs more support. But reality is these will look very DIY in person, unless you have extensive experience and the right tools. But for some spaces they are fine ie. the little cabinet under the bbq
