I have dyslexia and watching this video really touched my heart. I attend different classes than most people, and I often feel embarrassed and worried that others will make fun of me. I've been in these classes since elementary school and always hated feeling embarrassed. I will be graduating in two years, and for the first time in many years, I'll be trying more advanced classes when I return to school. I'll be a junior and I'm looking forward to this new challenge. Sometimes, I feel inadequate compared to others and cry because of it. I worry that I'm not enough for my friends and family. However, watching this video made me happy. The teacher was incredibly patient with the student, taking the time to teach slowly. My teachers are very nice, but sometimes they just give me the answer without allowing me to figure it out on my own, and it upsets me because I want to try. I struggle with a lot of anxiety, so asking for help embarrasses me for some reason. But I've been working on accepting help and trying harder. I hope to improve and get through my classes. Wish me luck!

Imagine being a teacher and not be able to differentiate between needing special education and dyslexia.
@TheWorldIsMyOyster176 ай бұрын
Oh, my!! What do *you* know about either? I know you aren’t a teacher. It’s way more than students writing and/ or reading letters, words, and numbers backwards. To know if a child is dyslexic takes a battery of 5 different tests. If there is a chance a child is after looking at scores, a writing example is looked at to determine if they are. I had one dyslexic child this year. She made no reversals. One boy wrote about everything backwards from his name to copying most everything backwards and he was neither dyslexic or needs to be tested. I thinkevery student I ever had tested ended up placed in a learning disability resource room, emotionally handicapped, mild, autism services; however, it is so unfair to think you *know* someone needs special services and assume they do. That’s why there’s rules to protect anyone being railroaded including R.T.I. (Response to Intervention) before any child is even tested!

I'm dyslexic and I enjoyed this video. A lot of teachers assume some kids have a learning disability, they never consider the fact that they might have a teaching disability. Different kids learn different ways. Just because a kid doesn't learn the "traditional" way doesn't make him "dumb" or "stupid" it just means you have to use different techniques and it isn't the fault of the kid, but more of the technique.

Nothing makes me more happy than more people speaking up about kids with learning difficulties learn in different ways that can change the world in such a charming matter. This is something I can definitely relate to. I had social and learning disabilities my whole life in school even in college. Even my folks were thinking down about me when I was growing up until I was introduced to violin. Luckily, I was taught to never give up and somehow won many awards in music and graduated college! Autism is a way of learning unique ways that normal people don’t. Other words, it’s a different ability not a disability! We need more videos like these and more people speaking up about this. Many people get frustrated because they may think they are dumb. Any person who reads this message. Please find your passions, and write your goals and dreams down. Break your goals and dreams down into smart steps. I myself have a notebook for my dreams and goals. I have achieved several of my goals. This is relatable. I couldn’t tie my shoes until 4th grade. I still struggle with multiplication. I still don’t know how to cook eggs/any other basic stuff. While my sister could tie her shoes in kindergarten, cook basic stuff in 2nd grade, and is amazing in math. I’m always told to be like her. Though, despite me learning differently, I have many things I can do. I can read, write, and draw very well. I also love history and I am really good at geography. But my family doesn’t see that and only see talks about my grades.

This story is heavily inspired by 'taare zameen par' basically its an indian movie similar to this where a boy named Ishan is Dislexic and his brother is a genius his dad hates him and his mother loves him. He gets sent to a boarding school for the same reason and he gets the same problems and till then an amazing teacher comes and teaches in ishan's way ishan also loved drawing. The teacher goes to the parents house and convince them the same way. In the end of the film ishan wins the contest and his parents are proud of him. Its actually a 2-3 hours long film but i am explaining it in nutshell. Basically its one of my favourite films. I cry everytime i see this.
