I beat the system when I worked as a supervisor for a fueling company at an airport. A new person took the position of the head EPA agent (I don't remember her title) and started things off by being a strict as possible when it came to environmental concerns. I agree with this in principle, but implemented a rule that was completely impractical to follow, changing the size of a reportable amount of fuel spilled from anything over 1' in diameter, to "any amount of fuel that is spilled". Why is this impractical? Reporting it, doesn't mean... just logging it, reporting it means that the airports fire department has to come out and assess the situation, oversee clean up, and determine what caused the spill so that actions can be taken to prevent it in the future, all of which requires forms, and time. Lots of time. I beat the system by bringing attention to the absurdity of the rule, by maliciously following it to the letter. Every single time you disconnect from an aircraft, there will inevitably be a drop or two that drips onto the ground. The first day of the rule, I reported every, single, drop, that I, or the rest of my employees had. That's every flight they fueled, every time the refilled a truck, every. After about the third one, when the fire department realized what I was doing, they told me to call them if there were any actual fuel spills that needed to be worried about, handed me a stack of blank reports, and I even stayed late so that I could dutifully fill all of them out and send them in. The EPA agent tried to get me trouble, which could have resulted in lost time at work, or even a firing. But I broke no rule, and in fact had technically been the only person to actually FOLLOW the rule, and so the very next day the rule was changed, and a reasonable definition of spill size was defined. I have never been so proud to file paperwork in my entire life.

I was working as a charge nurse in a 16 bed ICU. I worked p.m. and night shifts. We were chronically understaffed and on top of that, 75% of my staff were nurses with less than 1 year experience. No matter what I or my staff did, we weren’t staffed correctly because it saved money. Mind you, day shift was always staffed super good, which made this even harder to swallow. I consulted privately with a friend who specialized in medical malpractice. At his encouragement, I started writing a memo summarizing our staffing situation and why it was dangerous and sent that memo to my director, the chief nursing officer, and the CEO of the hospital. I did this every shift. It legally covered us nurses should something bad happen; makes the hospital and not the nurses liable for any patient error due to working critically short; and establishes that the hospital had a pattern of doing this. When my director and the chief nursing officer tried to retaliate against me, I took them directly to the Human Resources chief officer, who advised them to immediately cease and desist as she WAS aware of the laws regarding staffing and informed them I would be within my right to sue them and they would lose. She also informed them that the staffing needed to be adjusted as any of our nurses could easily sue for working conditions and win! End result was after 2 months of this, the hospital contracted with several agency nurses plus gave incentives to anybody picking up extra shifts. We also started an on call system for our staff to sign up for 6 hour increments to be available for very critical patients or sudden surges in our census. Problem solved and the end result was that we had so many nurses signing up for extra that we were able to completely get rid of the agency staff. Had this been done first, all could have been avoided.

IDK the one trick I did use (Which was probably my best so far) was this... So I do photography and they make these large cups that look like camera lenses. Many venues, like fairs and festivals don't want you to bring in outside food. I had a few of these cups (two were about 12" tall which I put 2 sandwiches into one, and filled the other with juice and taped it shut with a little black duct tape over what looked like the lens cap; the third one which was about 6" tall I just put trail mix into it). To the average person and security guard, they just looked like normal camera lenses. So I would put them in my camera bag and go through security and they would look and see that I had 4 lenses and a camera (or so they thought--only 1 of the lenses was actually real--the other 3 were fake lenses which were really cups meant for holding beverages, but I stored food in them instead). One instance the guy opened the bag and said "Nice lenses" and closed it back up and I was through security. And of course once you get into some of these venues, they can't tell where you got the food from unless of course it's from McDonalds or something pretty obvious. But I've done this several times, simply because they're just doing a quick check to make sure you don't have food or weapons.

But they used to make a mistake. When they were still in the stadium they used to share a picture on them saying "hey, i sneaked in by this make up" and if they weren't lucky enough, the guards would see the post and find and arrest them. Where there was peak of these "Azadi Girls", stadium guard used to touch fans' genital to see if there's any balls to let them in. LoL This contued until on of them was senteced to (not remembering well) 6 or 12 months of imprisonment and she couldn't take it so she burnt herself alive and died. Then FIFA stepped in and after lots of pressure and threats, the goverment allowed them in, but only for national games. The rediculios point is there is no such a prohibition for Volleyball...

Living in Iran. A girl friend of mine goes to stadium, disguised as guys, almost every week. Even the guards mostly know her (and know she's a girl), but are friendly towards her (mostly). She's sort of a home brewer and actually makes great stuff. Our friendship started when she contacted me on twitter (I was sort of a micro-celebrity before getting arrested for twitting political stuff, and now I'm waiting for the trial and possibly a year or so prison time). She offered me a bottle of home-made wine. It was great and she was a very good friend. Alas, they took my laptop and my cellphone and I lost contacts with my sweet beautiful friend. Iran's law is more extreme than you might imagine (I have personal horrible experiences other than being arrested for a ridiculous 'crime', but whoever reads this comment, won't believe those), but for the girls who attend the stadiums, compared to other horrific cases of jurisdiction in Iran, not so much. Most of them who get arrested, spend a couple of hours in jail, pay a little fine or bribe, and at most sign some papers and promise not to do that again, and then will do it again, and I'm totally proud of these nice beautiful ladies.

Wait, there was one more. This was sneaky and kinna technical. I was learning Turbo Pascal in school. Our teacher wanted us to write a program where you can enter in a sentence and it would count the number of words in that sentence returning it as output. While everyone slaved over writing functions to determine each of the characters if they were letters A-Z and the separation between the two, I quickly wrote code to count the number of SPACES in the sentence. For instance, "Go fly a kite." has 4-words in it. But it has 3-spaces. So my program was quick and direct, counting only the number spaces and then adding one. I finished before everyone else. While the whole class laughed and cheered at my ingenuity the teacher was not impressed gave me a C+ for completing the assignment correctly but for also being a smartass and not doing EXACTLY as he told me to.

It's crazy that our educational system discourages bright kids like you who focus on the goal and create a simple, logical solution rather than following a set procedure with no further thought. I've seen this with my niece too, the way they teach math is convoluted and requires a lot of extra steps compared to how I was taught many years ago. Smart kids like her who have an intuitive understanding of math and numbers and can get to the correct answer in a quicker, simpler way are "doing it wrong." Crazy! A2pha I assume you are in the US too but wherever you are, keep thinking like you do, don't let them turn you into a sheep who just follows the crowd. People like you who are original thinkers, who can simplify problems and/or solve them more quickly are successful in the real world and in their careers. Keep up the good work!

My beat the system moment was where a teacher told me I could use a single index card for notes, front and back. I wrote it all in restaurant shorthand, and small enough that I had to use a magnifying glass to read it. Even better, I got all of the books answers on the card too. Since the final was based on the book, easy 100%

8:58 this shouldn't be done, they take the baggage weight to estimate to payload and fill the necessary fuel. If all the passengers did this, the airlines would fill less fuel and this may cause accidents.
@mariomaker6213
@mariomaker6213 3 жыл бұрын
I do not think they actually do that.. Probably all airplanes is full before every flight.. Plus pilots will see if low fuel and go for a refuel inclosest airport
@tobiasolsen8521
@tobiasolsen8521 3 жыл бұрын
Mario Maker actually no, the less fuel onboard the more fuel efficient the plane is because of the reduced weight. Therefore airlines fill up with just enough fuel to reach its destination + some maneuvers in case of emergencies. Too much weight on a plane can also cause it to either need a longer runway to take off, or not being able to take off at all. It also affects calculations for takeoff speeds. Therefore you should be honest on the weight of your luggage, there is a reason for the limits set.

I can't say necessarily that I beat the system but there was one day I really wanted Pizza. I think I was 8-years old and told Dad I really wanted Pizza that day. I guess to teach me a lesson he looked straight at me and said, "Today. Specifically. You will not have pizza. You need to be aware of the difference between things you want and things you need." I didn't understand what he was getting at. So I went into the kitchen. Took one of the bread-buns made for hamburgers, spread ketchup all over the top of it, then took a hot dog and sliced it so think it was like little pepperoni's. Then garnished it with chopped green olives. I showed my creation to Dad saying this was MY PIZZA at which point he smiled and said, "Well now, you have proven me wrong. Just for that - tomorrow, we'll go out for real pizza." So to me, yeah, that was a WIN.

This story is not about bucking the system; it is about "thinking outside the box." In junior high my English teacher assigned homework of filling in blanks to a story. It started with "My friend (blank). I put in Al Capone as a laugh and then proceeded to reference Capone and the gangsters every way I could. Next day my teacher said everyone in class did the homework with a serious tone, and that only I(she said that I was the only one) who had fun with the assignment. This video made me recall that event. It is like the kid with the groot idea. More power to the Iranian women who dressed up as men!

For the app removal scheme, I believe Apple and the PlayStore look at reviews and ratings over a period of time, which is why the app was likely NOT removed as a result of these students' actions. The frequency of the ratings was too narrow. I believe many will go as far as a few weeks before removing an app if there a is a significant trend in a negative direction.

As a retail worker that relies on commission to get paid good, I found a small hack in the system to increase my commission by little and little each day. The store I work for is still a bit outdated by making staff manually price each and every item in the store. When our HO makes a change on the system with the prices of certain items and they do not inform us about it, that staff member that sells said item looses commission due to having to sell it at the advertised price. Now when I noticed this, I took that item and invoiced for the price on the item. Then an hour later, I credit the item as a return so that the glitch in the system shows that I made almost double the commission that I lost. To put it simpler......If the item made me loose $1.50 worth of commission and I credited it, I would make $3 worth of commission. That is $1.50 more that I was suppose to get and without actually selling the item.

I had a picture of a crush when I was younger that made me feel safe n distracted when I was out due to truama I had been through I struggle with cptsd but did not know it at the time. My mum tried to shame me about it like I was going out nude or something. (I recall she did the Same thing when I wanted to go for a walk she shamed me saying "why do you want to go out. To walk? Why. Where will you go. You have no friends. Your brother has friends. But you don't have friends." I said I can take a walk without friends. "Alone. You want to walk about alone outside alone and embarrass the family. What do you think people will think when they see see you walking about alone they'll think you are an idiot. You'll disgrace yourself. Youll embarrass yourself. You are forbidden to go out so you can get a walk. If you go out I'll lock the door and you won't get back in and you'll sleep out there." Basically my mother is an abuser. I was housebound imprisoned most of my upbringing with her. Maybe she was afraid one day I'll have my own mind and life and move out I was 16 or something then. I moved out at 17 when the abuse got worse and worse. She was violent and narcissist anyway. She begs now for me to come back and live with her again. That was in my late 20s claiming I don't have a job. When she asked if I work etc and telling her about PTSD and disability she ridiculed me about that too. I don't talk to her anymore for other reasons. Paedo stepdad still had nerve to ask me to go meet him in a cafe to see "how big I've grown because I must be a big girl by now" and added of course with mum she can be here of course ( knowing she wouldn't go she claims she can't go out at all exaggerated illnesses but then can when she wants to ) so anyway Anyway well when I was maybe 13-14 she told me to not carry about the picture. And if I do I will never get it back and she will bin it. (My mum and her paedo husband stole everything from me all the time. If stealing me away from my biological loving caring dad was not bad enough. They even binned my homework and forbade me taking it home.) Anyway so I agreed and decided to fold it up and put it in my jacket pocket instead. (She meant I can not take it out... but did not say that.) So with it in my pocket I never took it out and carried it about it was there though in my pocket where I knew it was still with me and made me feel little safer. Anyway I never saw that picture again though. You can not get away with stuff with a control freak narcissist mother. All she wants is her children to worship her and her only. I still remember today when waking up. My mother strangling and trying to snap my cat Jets neck when I was maybe 8 or 9. Because she said to Jet "why does Lorraine love you. You are a cat. You are taking her away from me." And then she got angry and I watched what she did thinking she can not be doing what I was seeing. And then I ran in the room crying out for her to stop hurting Jet and why was she putting his neck. She then proceeded to tell me she wasn't and ran out the room quickly telling me to stop spying on people. I basically always hang around the hallway it was the only bedroom I had as a child. And the kitchen light was off and she was in there which was unusual. I naturally saw my mother n cat together n felt drawn to join them but stopped when I heard what she said and did. The next time I caught her in there with Jet I was younger than 11 and she was telling him to take care of me. But I worry now what would have happened of I was not there to witness her abuse the first time. What if Jet had injuries. He had stomach issues and pains and suffered enough already plus bullying from the other cats. And I am sure he understood everything mother told him that day. Maybe even felt to blame or punished. He was a very smart cat. He would protect me from another paedo family member at night. While I slept. He could come in and wait for my attacker and threaten attack on him then lick me back to sleep. I also worry now when I was at school did she hurt him.
