I love how David doesn’t just write songs about love like many other artists. I love this song, not only because I’m a Christian, but also because this song hits deep for me. It’s hard to forgive yourself and it’s hard to trust and build your relationship with God. I first listened to this song when I was in a bad mental state. This song really helped me find who I was and it helped me through a hard time. I love David and I’ll never forget him for creating a song that helped me. Crazy that we are both thinking the same thing. I just came back to Christ after 37 years of being away and this song really pulled at my heartstrings. The whole verse is literally about not falling to temptation in a romantic relationship and cheating. Yes he is sorry to God but he's begging god for forgiveness for cheating or at the very least the temptation of cheating. He's an intelligent writer and much like the DEEPEST meaning to most songs, the writer used explanations that are CLOSE but sometimes not always spot on.

I’m a proffessional singer, (though I wish I was better at writing music like him) and I just have to say it’s so refreshing to hear such a soulful, richly toned baritone voice especially from someone around my age. (I’m 18, going into college) most of the time young singers such as myself and others aren’t exposed to many “soulful” singers just because we were raised with a very pop like sound, but with your range, and your control, you ABSOLUTELY fit that dark deep tone perfectly, and not many people can pull that off. Though I doubt this comment will receive many upvotes, I feel compelled to share my thoughts in the hope that it may resonate with someone and remind them they are not alone. I recently listened to David explaining the meaning behind his lyrics, and it struck a chord with me as I'm going through a similar experience in my life right now. Today, after the midday prayer at the Mosque, I found myself feeling overwhelmed and alone. Despite facing challenges such as an uncertain test, heartbreak, and family issues, I couldn't help but break down in tears. In that vulnerable moment, I uttered, "today was a good day," even though it wasn't objectively true. However, I followed that with a realization of how grateful I am for the opportunity to be with the people I love and cherish, and the chance to change and improve myself. It was a rare instance of me shedding tears, as I usually try to stay strong and seek solace in God's love to fill the deep and dark void within me. Strangely, I often feel undeserving of any form of love, and I can't fully appreciate it until I prove myself to be worthy. Though I've been down a dark and challenging path, I've always felt the presence of a higher power beside me, never forsaking me. Despite being a social person and well-known at my university, people only see the surface level of who I am. Sometimes, it seems like I can make everyone else happy, but I struggle to find satisfaction within myself. In sharing this, I hope others who may feel similarly will understand that they are not alone in their struggles. We all face battles that might not be visible to others, but it's crucial to remember that we deserve love and compassion, even when we're at our lowest points. Let's strive to be kinder to ourselves and appreciate the journey of growth and change that lies ahead.

So heartfelt confrontation of the things we ignore in ourselves everyday, running from it, running from God when all he wants is to give us life in full, in a way incompressible by our materialistic worldly understandings. Man, so good, keep up the good work. You are bringing awareness, I’m sure this has stricken the hearts of millions whether they choose to acknowledge and try to turn to the light and forgiveness of God’s love or not. You’re shedding light into a dark world. Thank you and God bless you man

My friend one day sent this song to me and I sat and listened and the shear depth of it hit me. Since the fall of man. We have had the tendency to do evil or to sin. Also known as human nature. And to me, part of this song describes the fight between the side of us that desires to do right and the side that desires to do evil. Like two faces of a person fighting for control. “2 sinners can’t atone for a lone prayer.” Asking God to forgive us, but only one “person” or side wants it. To be honest my words can’t express the spiritual depth that the lyrics of this song hold. It talks about a fight and the fight is real. Thank you!

Some of the biblical references that can be found in the song are: The blood spilled by Cain after killing his brother Abel (Genesis 4:10-11) The two sinners who can’t atone with a lone prayer echo Jesus’ parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector (Luke 18:9-14) The souls tied by pride and guilt, reminiscent of Adam and Eve’s fall from grace (Genesis 3:6-13) The darkness in the distance, symbolising hell or judgement (Matthew 25:30)

The thing is, is that some people in the comments are making fun of David because of the way he sings. There is nothing wrong with the live version, his voice is amazing. You people in the comments are just jealous and must be very unhappy, because every comment I see on KZbin of this video, people are saying "oh, wHy dOeS dAvId sOuNd lIkE a DyInG cAt ?" And I'm just like "bro wtf?". David is my new favorite singer.

I always like to think about vampires when I hear this song. Like a vampire love, vampire partners grieving for some reason.

He makes his voice go so deep but sound so good. The line where he said "tryna wash away all the blood I've spilt" I don't understand how he does it. It's so impressive
