Tbh though, as a GM1 Genji Sombra main (+ a few other flex DPS), this is a bit misleading. Bad Sombra mains will be impatient and potentially die to Genjis, other pealing DPS, or before a fight starts where everyone has their CDs Sombra’s rework still gives her a similar role in team fights as an opportunist (winning isolated duels, finishing up low health targets, and setting up team fights), she can just do it better now with higher uptime as long as they play it right. A good Genji won’t be playing peel, if he is they’re getting much less value vs being on main DPS to peel, thus giving the Sombra much better value as she can simply maneuver to other positions faster to find that opportunity or farm tank for EMP Sombra is a great matchup for Genji still because she can catch him off guard very easily and burst, whether that be in isolated duels or when a Genji is engaging on a backline While 1 tapping will certainly catch a Sombra by surprise, it is very unreliable and cases where you’ll have get the chance to do this to a good Sombra who understands her matchups and priorities well are slim to none

@@HarmlessPoke Don't get me wrong, I'm majorly a Genji main with my vast amount of hours on him. But in higher play where people have learned to play Sombra correctly (most people play her incorrectly, hence her extremely low win rate in ranked that most people experience despite playing against DESPITE being a very powerful character similar to Kiri), and ESPECIALLY in scrims, a Sombra won't get "countered" by a Genji, quite the opposite really It's like a Genji chasing a Tracer. You can do it, but you can get much more value else where rather than playing into Tracer's game of distracting and forcing CDs

Comparing Sombra and Tracer is foolish, their uptimes are completely different. Genji is even better now at threatening Sombra with the translocator changes, and has much better uptime than her due to deflect, wallclimb and double jump. If the Sombra goes for a fast setup, she will most likely go in at the wrong timing and get forced out before getting good value. If the Sombra goes for a slow setup to maximize her value, the other team can just engage 5v4 while she is still flanking. If the Sombra plays with the team, Genji just does a better job when mirroring the playstyle. I find it extremely hard to find a scenario that Genji doesn't find acceptable in this matchup. Maybe a really mobile team like Doom Tracer Sombra Lucio Kiriko so Genji can't find value before the engagement happens? In this case, peeling doesn't work because once the enemy team engages your team should be getting overwhelmed, but if we are considering this level of coordination your team should also have a solid comp, either leaning towards anti dive with Genji playing mostly passive and marking until there are opportunities to pounce on, or a dive comp like Winston Genji Tracer Ana Brig that can play slow if needed, marking setups and punishing over commitments from the enemy team @@6torthor
