Genndy is a genius. Samurai Jack is a masterpiece. So many incredible episodes. The use of shadow and silence the quality of animation is of a mind blowingly high standard. Primal had big shoes but doesn't disappoint.

You can tell with Samurai Jack he was always pushing to be more than a cartoon, more cinematic, and was pushed into boxes over and over. Make sure there is humor, make sure there are goofy characters, 13 episodes in a season, every episode is an adventure of the week that stands alone....a lot of staples of cartoons of the late 90s and early 00s forced upon the show. He did what he could to fight against it, and he used Season 5 to conclude the series in a way that felt more like what the show was always trying to be(notice the maturity, continuity of a 10 part sequence, and a lack of throwaway goofball adventures) Primal felt like it was that kind of "pure cinema" concept of a highly visual, highly musical action0adventure story, stripped away of all of those other limitations. It is told in anamorphic widescreen, has no (well, very very minimal) spoken dialogue...and has more focus and fewer episodes. The first season is 10 episodes. With roughly half of the episodes being completely stand-alone while the other half are two-parters or otherwise feel sort of connected. The 10th episode begins a single continuous arc that will span the entirety of the 2nd season...so now even the one-off episodes are pretty much a thing of the past. Primal is a more primitive and basic story than Samurai Jack, but it is absolutely an evolution of the storytelling and style of Samurai Jack. It has none of the weaknesses of Samurai Jack, and all of the strengths are even better.

This is true story telling. Bravo!! I tilt my hat to you sir, you crazy mind boggling genius. Your pacing is a lesson to all the writers how much you can fit in 30 minutes, full of pathos and action, every episode felt like a movie!!! Love from the land of Oz.

My fav animated series of all time. Yeah I said it. I've just purchased BluRay version of it. Everything about the series just resonated with me on some sublimal level. Thank you Genndy for doing what you are doing, that means being the best animation director since Chuck Jones.

I would love for their to be some kind of "Genndy Tartakovsky Collection" type of physical media release that could go back through Dexter, Samurai Jack etc...and remaster the episodes, present them in the way Tartakovsky wants them, and release them on physical media for people to collect and enjoy.

I’m grateful that Genndy created Samurai Jack, but when I first saw it, I never felt anything like “this” before, I also felt like I was greatly influenced by Jack and depressed because the story ended because it made me love childrens cartoon network shows like the Powerpuff girls, Courage the cowardly dog, etc which many children my age right now take for granted, and when I saw Primal, I was happy to see another Genndy tartakovsky show because it reminded me of Samurai Jack at first sight,, and when it ended as well with a sad ending, I couldn’t help but cry and also think of real life and Samurai jack and how it was really similar because I just realized at the very age of 11, time is just so cruel, but is yet so beautiful as well,

Killing off Spear after only two seasons of Primal is a bad choice. Primal is a masterpiece for so many reasons....and the relationship between Fang and Spear is the shows foundation. If Genndy is dead set on Killing Spear so soon, we might benefit from the magical mysticism established by the creatures who birth children from a man who gets vanquished on a mound, his body riddled with symbols on his body. Losing Spear coming into season three, would be worse than disappearing Rick and featuring his daughter...and Killing off Carl in The Walking Dead. One could justify Killing off a lead character late in for Walking Dead. However, not Primal. Not a foundational character this soon.
