the big picture indeed. Or as you say early on: "beggars can't be choosers". Combat is not the greatest, but when you take in level design and all the care that went into it, the big picture is good enough, especially coupled with otherwise awful or null competition in VR space for a game like this...

If combat sucks, then maybe play on low difficulty, which should it make it more bearable :)

Yeah, I’m thinking of going down to easy for the sake of getting it out of the way, but I also don’t like how that may invalidate any opportunities for the weapons and their upgrades to show themselves off 🤷🏻‍♂️

The way enemies work, the way each enemy's "fight" is designed, seems like they could ALL be very massively improved with a ten minute "writing on a napkin" redesign by someone who knows what they're doing, and that's unfortunate. Whoever designed the enemies just didn't have a good head for those kinds of ideas, it seems. Just one easy example: you have this grappling weapon. Instead of using it to plink those crabs 20 times to kill them, which looks horrendously boring, I do not understand why they don't design the fight to require you to use the grapple only a few times - with the pull motion, as intended - to rip some sort of shell off them, making them vulnerable to other weapon fire. I mean, latching and pulling stuff off is already literally what that tool is for. It's such a simple line to draw. And then you wouldn't have to spam the latcher as an ineffective and boring melee weapon. It would be a tool to expose enemies to further damage. A game like this could learn so much looking at something like Metroid Prime. In fact, I think Metroid Prime 3 had a 1:1 example where you could rip shields out of enemy hands and rip off armor plating from enemies to harm them with weapon fire. I don't know, I had envisioned combat with both hands in this game being a sort of cool thing of the latcher in one hand, gun-creature in the other, and you're ripping armor and legs and guns and stuff off enemies and then hitting weak points with the gun, etc. There are other smaller issues like the sound effects are very slappy and feel weak, and as a viewer at least I see no real indication that you're being hit (when you died, it was always a big surprise to me and I often wondered why).
