The sibling never went to fontaine, they stopped in sumeru because of the loom of fate

i'm thinking probably bcs Sumeru is where their path began to diverge. in the puddle of water where Aether walked, you can see reflection of Lumine's retracing the same steps but hers stopped while Aether kept walking. I think Lumine would probably still go to Fontaine and other region but she's no longer the same Lumine her brother knew. Lumine explicitly said she need Aether to travel Teyvat to unravel what is the truth, that implied she already traveled Teyvat once. if her journey ended in Sumeru i doubt she will say words that implied "Teyvat as a whole". This is Genshin after all. they are very careful with words when it comes to lore.

Imagine how difficult it must have been for Lumine to travel an unknown world for 500 years without finding any sign or proof that her brother was really there, without knowing what actually happened to him? Wandering the world without a real friend, after all she was not intimate with her walking partner. Not a hug, not a word of comfort... On the other hand, Aether had a smoother journey, as wherever he went, he found signs that his sister was nearby, and Paimon helped him through the highs and lows...
