For anyone that’s wondering, according to the artist’s (zenaz-en?) other art, Ajax is a golem created with zhongli’s geo power and he wears that blindfold by his eyes are gold, like cor lapis, not blue like tartaglia’s

I don't think mihoyo is planing to kill him. He is a playable character and if they where to kill him, many could drop the game out of love for the character. Which would mean less money for the company, and of course they don't want that. Just my personal opinion.

If I followed correctly, I think they were like fighting to the death for some reason, I haven't seen this comic yet so I'm thinking that this happened : Maybe Childe became like a bad person or the Delusion somehow like controlled him (or maybe the abyss order) or generally anything else and made him insane and terrorizes Liyue so Zhongli had to put an end to it, He defeated Childe and got back to his normal state before he died, Zhongli then felt bad that he killed a close friend of his but he has to because maybe he might go insane again and he did made a contract to protect Liyue so he has no choice. In the end he recreated Childe before he became a harbringer since he refers to himself as Ajax, Maybe Zhongli wiped most of his memories or maybe that's just a price to pay in order to bring back someone to life again. Hmm, an interesting concept, I like this.

We did the comics out of order but to summarize, (this is all fanon btw...at least yet) Zhongli had killed Childe but was unable to handle the loss of Childe. He created a clone out of stone of Tartaglia to substitute in his place.
