Genshin Impact performance test on Lenovo Legion Go: 1080p High vs Medium vs Low

I was asked what performance was like of Genshin Impact on Lenovo Legion Go with 1080p Medium & High settings. This was after I did a video showing Genshin Impact running at 1080p Low which is my preferred settings as it keeps the game running at a mostly consistent 60 FPS. I do show 1080p Low here anyway but that is to demonstrate how much smoother it plays vs Medium & High in the same area.
Please note that I was using "Windowed" for Display Mode rather than Full Screen because I could not get the game to run at Full Screen in 1080p. This seems to be an issue with the Legion Go's GPU driver which is flawed & really needs updating. In anycase I don't think it impacts performance whether running Windowed vs Full Screen mode.
A more in depth video of me playing at 1080p Low can be viewed here... • Genshin Impact on Leno...
Played on a Lenovo Legion Go with Windows 11 stock software & using Performance Mode upto 30 Watts plugged into the wall.
Recorded on a separate PC with an Elgato 4K60 Pro MK.2.
00:00 1080p High Settings
00:20 1080p High gameplay
01:02 1080p Medium Settings
01:21 1080p Medium gameplay
02:20 1080p Low Settings
02:37 1080p Low gameplay

Real og, major thanks, obviously this video was worth a sub and a like as well, I've had my legion go for a while now but haven't really been getting in to handheld gaming yet, so if there is anything else that you recommend to change on default settings in actual windows etc then a video on that would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the sub. For me there is no need to change any Win 11 settings as it plays well in this & other games. Win 11 is much improved compared to 2 years ago, when I tried it first time on a gaming laptop I bought back then which came installed with the OS & had issues. Only thing I recommend outside of the game is to make sure LegionSpace, the app which can set the speed of the Legion Go, is on Performance mode.

Hi! Im thinking of getting either the legion go or the steam deck OLED, may I know how long you can play genshin impact with the optimized setting? Im on the fence with the OLED one because I heard that we can get banned playing genshin and Honkai Star rail on the steam deck so Im opting for the legion go since I do not mind the hefty handheld since it comes with a big battery. New sub here!

Thank you for the sub. I have mostly used the Legion Go in docked mode connected to a monitor so cannot say now how long the battery lasts. However, you have given me an idea to do a video playing Genshin Impact on the battery only from a full charge & to time it. I will do it this coming week when I have some time off.

@@sleepygamer5590 yeah thank you so much! I used to play on my gaming laptop but transitioned to a desktop. I find myself needing something to play genshin on the go so the gaming handheld seems interesting for me. I was planning on getting the valve steam deck OLED since I have built a hefty library on steam but found out that I can get banned playing on the steamdeck with genshin and Honkai star rail. Looking forward on your vid and I hope you make a setting guide as well. Cheers mate!

Hi. Sorry I have not done a video yet, but I did a Genshin Impact test using the battery of the Go only. I did not use the Go's screen as I had it connected to my TV. The settings on Genshin Impact were "Low" @ 60 FPS same as this video. The Go was in Performance Mode, other modes would not make the game play at 60 FPS. The result was 1 hour 15 minutes from a full charge. I will do some more testing as I think it can last more at 30 FPS and "Smart" mode rather than "Performance" which obviously has higher clock speeds & would drain the battery more. I will also test using the Go's screen only.

Could it be that Genshin runs much better on a (good) smartphone than on these Handheld PCs? Are they really that poor, or is the game much more optimized on Android devices?

I don't think it is an optimization issue on PC. Instead it seems to be a fault with the Unity gaming engine used in Genshin that is producing microstutters, something to do with garbage collecting to what I have been told. The best supported platform I have seen Genshin on is Apple devices, it officially goes upto 120 FPS where as PC is 60. I have not played it on an Apple device but would like to try to see if the microstutter issue are still there.

@@sleepygamer5590 Absurd that on IOS it supports the Gamepad, while on Android it doesn't (making the game almost unplayable for me, even doing simple daily tasks and lay lines with touch controls is an agony!). Also 120hz which is not officially supported on PC, but works perfectly via third party MOD, (even at 240+ fps)

As an Android user I am also disappointed at no gamepad support. I have played Genshin on PC at 60 FPS+, you can see a benchmark video I did on my channel with an Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti.

@@sleepygamer5590 With the mod I was playing in 4k@120fps already with my previous 1080ti, so with the current 3080ti I could even do many more (but my TV/Monitor can't handle more)

@@alessiobrabus7990IOS native controller and >60fps are part of the exclusive deal with Apple. Hoyo needed money when they were just starting and Apple advertised for them. Of course, they wouldn't tell as it's an NDA but that is the only clear explanation why 4 years on, Android still doesn't support controllers and still locked at 60fps without 3rd party "magic".

It is because of the Unity engine the game uses, it has been stated by those who also noticed this. I tried a few solutions but nothing worked. The most effective solution I found is keep the Render Resolution at 1.0 & below, to reduce stutter, but it will not remove it.
